Just in time for the holidays, the Smithosonian has opened an exhibit entitled Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraitue. This exhibit features ants crawling on a crucifix, Ellen DeGeneres grabbing her breasts, male genitals, naked brothers kissing, and a painting the Smithsonian describes as homoerotic.

Says the plaque outside of the exhibit:

"These themes, historic and artistic, come together in 'Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture,' the first major exhibition to examine the influence of gay and lesbian artists in creating modern American portraiture," says the plaque. "'Hide/Seek' chronicles how, as outsiders, gay and lesbian artists occupied a position that turned to their advantage, making essential contributions to both the art of portraiture and to the creation of modern American culture."

Get at this dot netters.

In my excitement, I forgot the link.

Some sexy photos and a lot of comments from people I'll never meet. (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/smithsonian-christmas-season-exhibit-fea)

You know what I say about art, Ronnie?

It's all ugly and stupid.

Modern art is 9 times out of 10 just plain awful. The other time they use something from the past that works and embrace it.

The only thing I could get with this exhibit is that AIDs was/is a disease that people keep quiet (thus the sewing of the guys lips). But the graphic sexual things just seem to put the whole thing in this weird, uncomfortable place.

It's like the guy who put a crucifix in a bottle of urine and took a picture. How is that art?

Love the Smithosonian. Always watch the show they have on tv. It's on right now 'mysteries at the museum' (travel).

I have no problem with the Smithsonian. Hell, I have no problem with the exhibity. I find it to be pointless and a way to garner intellectual praise.

Yeah, nothing is worse than getting a raging hard on in a museum.

You know you aren't even allowed to crank one out in those places?

Learned that one the hard way.
