Okey, I loved the Stand mini-series from years ago, and the IT mini-series still gives me nightmares. The other Steven King adaptions and original miniseries' haven't been all that great, but this movie was so incredibly disappointing!

I'm used to Steven King's stuff to have that letdown ending, but this was ridiculous. I read somewhere that he said the last 30 minutes would be the most scary thing ever...um what?!

I admit that all the dead people walking around and the closeups of their faces was freaky, but what about the storyline?! Talk about plot holes!

And I have to dig up that thread about movie cliches, b/c who would go to a haunted house to stay, and walk around by themselves? Why would they sleep in different rooms alone?! Haven't they got any clue about what kind of place they're in?! I mean, c'mon.

I vowed that I wouldn't watch any of it, but I gave in and caught almost all 6 hrs of the miniseries...and it stunk!

i didn't even have any intention of seeing it. The STand was highly flawed including the casting of several lead roles. I loved IT growing up.

Amen to that! That's 6 hours of my life that I'll never get back. I had to watch it though, as a "Dark Tower" junkie, I thought it might tie somehow into the whole mythology. Instead we get this poorly-acted piece of crap. King must have still been on the Demerol from his accident while writing this.

While there have been some really good King adaptations for television such as The Stand, It, Golden Years and (I'm gonna take some crap for this) the version of The Shining starring Steven Weber from Wings - this ranks us there with some pieces of shit. These include The Tommyknockers and The Langoliers.

The weather up here is fine. Thank you for asking.

The Stand and It were both really good, but I really liked Golden Years, and I wish they did the sequel series that was rumored when it ended. I heard the video version had a more final ending, tho'

Thank god, I knew I wasn't the only one watching this disaster. And I still don't even understand the freakin' movie. I must have missed some important part, b/c the whole thing was retarded...and how was Nancy Travis a ghost at the end...ARG!

Tall James, good call on the newer version of the Shining! It got ripped cause of Steven Webber, but still wasn't bad. You're all right about the others, but I never caught Golden Years, so I don't know how it was...

And Ikea, how could you not like the Stand miniseries?!?!

ok, maybe I overstated it. I thought it was mostly good but not great. What I didn't like- I thought the end with the giant head was stupid and the casting of Frannie and Harold were COMPLETELY off. Also, Randall Flagg wasn't as good as I thought he should be.

I think the problem with the Stand mini-series was that in order to do it right and be true to the book (the unabridged version of course), they would have to spend 150 million.

Any Dark Tower junkies out there?
