He had better get on an elliptical machine or try swimming for a while. He is going to wreck his knees and hips through jogging.

25 years old and going to medical school he should have a bit more sense..

Maybe just cleaning the floor around the door trim in his bathroom would be a good start.

Lifestyle change - that's all you need. Exercise routinely and tell yourself every time you go to eat - that you are on a diet and must eat accordingly. I must stress that exercise is the key to weight loss. There are no excuses of why of cant unless you are crippled in a wheel chair. Before you know it, your metabolism will increase and you will start to see fat melting off.

Remember it took a long time to get this big - so it wont be something you can knock out quickly. Also, you might want to check with your doctor about getting your Thyroid levels checked. That could be a contributing factor to why you have retained alot of the weight. Simple blood test will tell you.

My advice is true - I have lost and gained 100's of pounds of my life and I know what works.

Good luck!

Edit - Oh, I thought he was posting here - I guess this was worthless...

Oddly, I don't have as much interest in this weight loss website as I had with the last one.

Why wait around for my first sexual experience - when I had it living in the next bedroom across the hall.

Seeing it's from the internet it's probably about as much on the level as the San Andreas fault--but here's what he should do--

Low intensity exercise, namely walking, for long periods. No high intensity at all...just SLOW walking for LONG periods. Build up to 2 1/2 or 3 hours daily. Start slow and short, build it up gradually to slow and long--10 minutes or so at first, build up gradually, monitor heart rate and joint pain. Back off if there are any negative indicators, then slowly build it up again.

Make up the menu and preferably the meals, ahead of time and eat only what's on the list. Count the calories on the list to be sure. Deal with the hunger pangs and thoughts of eating by telling yourself you are one tough, superior, superman Nietzche hombre. Drink a glass of water. Eat QUALITY food, no processed food.

If this fails, a gastric bypass or a lapband surgery is definitely in order. Better to make a drastic decision that involves some sacrifice and change your life than to die young with a self-loathing mind.

The other thing is follow the AA method--don't hang out with bad influences. That's tough, as they are most likely in your family.

Greg,

Getting in shape is not as difficult as one may think. I'm in the best shape of my life at 43 and what it takes is not a half-assed effort, but a total immersion into doing it right.

Now, you may be asking yourself - "How is that not difficult?"

The battle you will be waging has to be won in your mind before you begin it with your body. Once you convince yourself that it is time to take care of business (and from what I heard of you on the radio, you're ready for that), the other stuff will fall into place.

You have to live a full healthy lifestyle. Dieting and exercising is all well and good, but if you go out on Friday night and get hammered, then you're back to square one.

The main thing is drinking water. A lot of it all day long and dropping everything else. Some low or non-fat milk is OK, but forget the soda and beer. Carry a bottle of water with you everywhere you go and refill it when it's empty.

I can scratch out a diet and exercise plan for you, but I suggest that you take Dr. Steve's advice, as well. I am not in the medical profession but have been involved in exercise my entire life and was a hired weight trainer at a gym in the past.

You can PM me or e-mail me at the address on the Contact Us page on my website.

Um, back to square one? no. not unless your completely half assing it during the week. i think that is bad and irresponsible advice. cheat once a week, its good for you mentally and if you eat too well and too little calories for a long time your body will go into starvation mode and slow your metabolism down to nothing.

Every person is not the same and have different thresholds, but when you have such a long way to go like this guy, that weekly cheat can be his downfall.

Personally I don't prescribe to that reward theory. If you can't get your ass in gear without discipline then you're not serious about getting into shape. The same goes if you're half-assing it. Eating too little calories is the wrong way to go, too. Splitting sensible meals a few hours apart will help your exercise routine.

fair enough man, i've lost like 100 lbs in the past 9 months. i just know what works for me. i def agree 3 meals is important. i just can't do those micro meals like 6 times a day. i started almost exactly where this guy is, its a little eerie.

to get my motivation, it took my grandpa dying who was the rock of the family, and my grandma going through quad bypass a month later. thats just not going to be me, my chest is not gonna be ripped open if i can help it. i'm still a fat ass, still got a ways to go, lol

no hard feelings
