I just hate Sean Penn so much. It has nothing to do with his public persona, just play a likeable character for once.

Harvey Milk was very likable.

So many of the reviews seem estatic describing a one of a kind experience
Here's an example from the Boston Globe.

Terrence Malick seems to have immensely benefited from the 20 year break he took before releasing A Thin Red Line. He made two incredible films in the 70's, broke for two decades, made another great movie in 98 and is now regarded as The Artist King of Commercial Cinema.
But are we forgetting, or maybe even forgiving, The New World.

I know what you mean, but the review I cited claims The New World is a great film.
