So after many years in my current apt, it is time to move on and my husband and I are apt hunting. Anyonehave any sugestions............
looking in queens, flushingish or fresh meadows

Fresh Meadows is probably a nicer area but less convenient for mass transit (if that's important to you).

I would definitely suggest house hunting instead.
