South Carolina may soon have its own currency, if one state senator has his way. Republican Lee Bright introduced legislation that would back the creation of such a currency, because, “If folks lose faith in the dollar, we need to have some kind of backup,” he tells the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. His resolution calls for a study on the subject, and argues that a state currency could protect South Carolina if the strained Fed breaks down.

Here's a decent rundown that sums up some of the noise you hear on both sides of this argument. To me the program has done it's job bc it could have been (SHOULD have been) much worse. Yes some of the money went to stabilize areas that simply won't be repaid but most had to be done. To say all the money plus more will be paid back isn't true, but in some areas it's been paid back and then some. The reasons there mainly tie into companies (execs) wanting to pay themselves huge bonuses via the good old boy network for all the GREAT fucking work they've done to almost aid in destroying the financial world as we know it. Greed is an amazing motivator and it never ceases to amaze me how low people will go to elevate from rich to ridiculously rich.

Can either of you put up your point without the bullshit? His point may have been about some portions of TARP being very successful, but why not just point out the areas that aren't/weren't? Fucking add to the discussion as opposed to making it a shit throwing fest. The economy is a mess based on a SHIT-LOAD of factors but definitely not bc of TARP.
