Whatever Happened To "Quaaludes"?

HECKLER - Quaaludes are the brand name for the depressant methaqualone. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending upon your perspective) it is no longer manufactured commercially.

Qualudes worked by depressing the central nervous system which reduces heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure. Small doses create a feeling of euphoria. However, bigger doses can cause depression, irrational and psychotic behavior and diminished reflexes. An overdose can be fatal.

Mixing alcohol and ludes in any quantity can be deadly as the two drugs combine to exponentially depress the heart and lungs.

4 out of 5 doctors surveyed, recomend that you keep breathing and your heart pumping to avoid a bad case of death.

For your edification (wink wink) similar effects can be achieved by using depressants such as barbituates.
