Subway was at the top of this list ( well maybe not the Forbes list but other lists ) for a long time but now they aren't even in the Top 20.

By the way I hate websites that have you navigate through pages/pics in that fashion. Facebook is doing it now. It feels like Windows 95 technology.

The reason there are so many Subways is because they're one of the cheapest franchises you can get. But they make up for it later with the price of what they sell you.
And from that list, I just gotta say Papa Murphy's can suck a dick. Bake the fucking pizza for me, you lazy asses. Get a real pizza oven and fucking bake it. Don't make me take it home and fuck it up in my cheap ass oven.

Is there really a pizza called "Papa Murphy's"? If so you dont buy a pizza from someone with an Irish name. We all know Irish people bring nothing to the table when it comes to food!

Obviously you've never had a banger, cabbage, and potato pizza.
As Pepper would say, "It's delish!".

That would probably explain the noxious emissions threatening the health of the interns in the producer's booth.

They're also very prominent because they take up the slots in strip malls while other franchises, more specific to restaurants, want free standing buildings.
But again it's interesting to see that Subway was a Top 20 and now isn't.
It's not like their overhead or anything has increased by much because as you said the product is crap.

I wonder if it's because Subway has reached a saturation point. I can't think of a place in this town off the top of my head that I'd want to open a Subway; they're pretty much everywhere. In some cases, there's even more than one in the same shopping center: for example, there'll be a stand-alone Subway in a storefront, then there's a Wal-Mart that has a Subway in it as the cafe. Where else can one go?

That's a good point.
That's also the logic that has Subway HQ getting sued by its own franchiees all the time.
The don't care about the franchises themselves because they get say 6% of the total profits from any locations so they don't care if it's $5000 from one or $2500 from two.
This obviously prevents the individual franchisees from maxing their potential.

I agree with this. I live in a town that 6 square miles or something like that and we have 4 of them. We are very populated and not far from NYC but do we really need 4 of them? We had 5 1 closed recently!
I also think people also liked the idea that they were a lunch time place that closed by 8 or 10pm. Now with breakfast they are asking owners to buy and sell more types of food as well as have more staff working more hours!
