I have a feeling it wouldn't be a simple DDOS to take their sites offline, actually. It would probably end up being more like what they just did to a security firm called HBGary where they broke into HBGary's servers and found lots of embarrassing (if not incriminating) documents about how they were going to smear Wikileaks.

It might be something similar: maybe they find documents showing that it's all a scam to get settlement money, or something similar. You're right, though, if it's just taking their shitty website down, that doesn't really matter.
