Anyone watching this? 9pm Mondays on FOX.

http://browngirlnextdoor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/the-chicago-code.jpg

Created by Shawn Ryan, who also created The Shield.

It's really good. Jennifer Beals (who is from Chicago and I'm guessing uses her natural accent - it's a thick Chi-town accent) and Jason Clarke are excellent as cops trying to take on a corrupt politician, played by Delroy Lindo, who in just a few episodes has turned out to be one of the slimiest and slippery bad guys I've seen in a while on TV.

This show is pretty good. I cant see how it could go season after season with this story. The alderman is 1 of the main characters and the biggest star on the show. If they "get" him then whats next? And that would also mean the biggest star is now gone? If they keep this story going for 4 seasons people might get bored.

Monday has some good shows. I have even watched Harrys Law. I liked that as well. Typical David Kelley but good!

I could see them doing something where they get almost enough to take him down and he somehow gets out of it, setting up the next season.

Gibbons seems to be pretty much running the town... he's got his hands in too many pockets. A great character... and everytime Teresa has to deal with him, you can see him getting stronger and stronger.

That side plot with her family was f'd up. I'm glad she made her brother-in-law turn himself in, BUT... WTF sister? You'd think she would know that she's a girl scout and is fighting to take down corruption.

Brutal side plot about undercover Liam too. I wonder how that murder will lie on his conscience.

Loving this show.

I like the opening theme song too, by Billy Corgan.

How about that last scene with the Alderman? He's a corrupt nut!!

The story really moved along in this last, excellent episode.

Worried though... the show is "on the bubble" in regards to ratings. And shows like that don't have a good track record on FOX.

he's not only corrupt, he's creepy as shit too! haha. that scene with undercover Liam when he was meeting the IRA dude was crazy tense. I thought he was gona get made for sure.

and I'm also anticipating SOMETHING to happen every time there is a scene with Wysoki's niece and her partner/boyfriend. You just KNOW one of them is gonna die and they could let that hammer fall any episode. I hope this show stays....if only i was a neilsen house.

I really liked Chicago code too but as a business can you blame these stations for putting on reality shows over dramas? These reality shows get more viewers and cost a lot less to produce which means they are huge money makers for the networks. I dont like it when shows I like get cancelled but I also like reality shows so I usually get something I like every night!

I'm not saying I'm better, but the only reality show I've ever watched (and its more rockumentary) is Deadliest Catch.Never watched one episode of Survivor, Apprentice, Ted Mack's Amateur Hou..oops, American Idol . I HATE it when "crap sells" . I know they're cheaper and can get big ratings, but I can only rewatch my WEST WING DVDs over and over again only so many times.Thank God for HBO & AMC (Although a little pissed that they cancelled Rubicon) .

That being said, last season of Deadliest Catch, when you KNEW Phil was going to bite it , was true drama, and truly moving.

Series/Season finale was pretty good. At least they wrapped everything up as much as they could and we got some answers. I guess the captain at the end was looking to get laid and the only place to do so was at a hotel bar where conventions happen? She looked really good but thats sad that she cant have a relationship or date like a normal person!

Furtherman
05-24-2011, 05:46 AM
A great series finale. I'm really happy it didn't end with a cliffhanger or some other unresolved issue, but it looks like they knew the end was coming and they wrapped it up nicely. They had to fast track a couple of plot points but it was one of the better finales I've seen of one season shows.

And yea, the coda at the end with all the characters was a nice touch. Especially to see how Theresa can only get some fun in due to her dedication of the job. Glad the undercover cop's story worked out too.

The show had such great potential. F'n rubes and their Dancing With The Stars, and F'n Fox for not giving it a proper chance.

I loved the way this ended, but I'm sad to see it go. I'm beyond happy that they more or less wrapped up the storylines while leaving a number of possibilities if there had been a second season. I would have loved to see Gibbons try to organize some sort of defense to present for himself.

that would have been great...i was thinking a certain jaded FBI agent who felt used after not getting that dinner date could come back and bite the Super in the ass, or the reporter in her office when he showed up the first time in the episode would run with a crafty story of a fabricated affair that would put holes in the impending case. She definitely picked something up in that scene and i think Beals acting there was purposely overdone. Would have been really cool to see Wysocki dealing with his father and the news of his brother....there are just a billion story lines there that could be dug up from the past. The whole season could revolve around closing the cases his brother was working to clear his name somewhat, while it was simultaneously getting dragged through the mud because of the Gibbons case. You also have the loose end of Gibbons assistant who wasn't seen being arrested. And obviously, with the IRA out of business in Chicago, who moves in? The Russians again? maybe they move in big time, while some of the remaining goons from the Chicago IRA start to cluster together with one of them getting a nod from the higher ups to run shit there and start reclaiming territory.

I don't even work in this industry and I came up with this just writing it out as i thought......someone explain to me again why they cancelled this show?
