Back in the day "ridetrucks" would come to your block, just like Good Humor and Mr. Softee. These rides on trucks(ferris wheels, whips, rocking boats) were cool, and after each ride every kid got an ice pop or a toy. I think these trucks are still aroud for party rentals, but it was great hearing someone yell "The ride is coming" as it slowly drove down the street blasting music.

i remember the wip truck.but i could never go on it cause my mom heard a story bout the drivers being kid humpers.and that was befor kid humpin was glamorous

LMAO Skull! There were always stories about the creepy guys who operated the rides. And what about the kid toucher ice cream men? Man, the things I did for a toasted almond bar! LOL

Can you believe they used to pack in 4 kids in one of those ferris wheel cages?It was like boot camp for clown school. The duck call blower thing was my favorite prize. <P>

We still have block parties in Bay Ridge, but the fun is gone. The police get involved more nowadays, and most block parties use DJ's instead of rock bands. And Ralphy? I always loved the

I remember the Half Moon on the truck. For some reason he would always park under the trees and when your side would rise up we would grab the lower branches of the trees and see who had the most leaves in their hands at the end . Those rides always seemed so short but then so were we.

Already preparing for St Paddy's Day one parade down and one to go

I remeber those well. When I used to live in the projects on Staten Island, they'd come through, and we always got those Ice pops in a tube. Then, I shit you not, one of the drivers got shot one night, and they never came by again. I don't care what all these rappers say the projects suck.
