I just watched Full Metal Jacket for the first time today and it was amazing. The best line in that movie is when Joker and Raptorboy were in the helicopter and the guy says "If they run, they're VC, if they stay still, they're well disciplined VC." Fucking amazing.

YOU ARE A DISGUSTING FAT BODY!

That movie took a dive after the drill sergent was shot.

Overall it was a great film.

"Who the fuck said that? Who's the slimy little communist shit, tinkle-toed cocksucker down here who just signed his own death warrant? Nobody, huh?! The fairy fucking godmother said it! Out-fucking-standing!"

"Hell I like you, you can come over to my house and fuck my sister."

"Seven-six-two millimeter. Full metal jacket."

I love this fucking movie :)

i'm a huge Kubrick fan and while it is true the film slips after bootcamp (mostly because of the fantastic peformances by Emery and D'onofrio) it's still a great movie to wtach. and it's Rafterman not Raptorboy, the rafter comes from an experience talked about in the novel the movie is absed on- The shorttimers

Greatest Vietnam War comedy ever made.

"How can you shoot women and children?"
"Easy! You just don't lead 'em so much!"

Greatest Vietnam War comedy ever made.

Worst Vietnam War comedy every made - Good Morning Vietnam. Even though Uncle Floyd was in it.

i didn't see FMJ as a comedy per se, it had dark comedic moments but not a comedy.

Sure it's a comedy. It's just an inadvertent black comedy.

I mean, c'mon. How can you not watch Pyle's systematic torture and mental degradation and not give a chuckle or two?

If you had gone through boot camp back in those days(like I did) there was nothing funny in the way Pyle was treated! That shit really happened!
