We've been getting these calls from San Antonio, TX for a couple of weeks now. I never pick up the phone unless I know who's calling and since I don't know anyone in San Antonio, I just let it go to voice-mail as soon as I see the caller ID. But they never leave a message.

My wife, on the other hand, always answers the phone and is usually quick to give out all sorts of information. Last week she picks up this number and the woman says it's the Diabetes Foundation and says my mother's name and asks if she's home. My wife tells the woman that she knows my mother but she doesn't live here. The woman then asks if she can get my mother's number. My wife says she's not giving her my mother's number. And then the woman tries to pull a guilt trip on my wife and says "Oh, I guess you don't care about people with diabetes then?" Now, my wife knows a few things about charities and now she's aware it's a scam and just hangs up.

But the calls continue. We never answer and they never leave a message. When I check the caller ID there's about 5 calls a day.

Well, today I'm trying to do some work from home and the phone's been ringing off the hook from this number. 10-15 calls this morning alone. When I ignore it they don't leave a message. A couple of times I picked up said "Hello" and they just hung up on me.

Finally I just lost it and I picked up and screamed "Go fuck yourself!" Then the phone imediately rings again. Again, I say "Fuck you! You call here 10 times a day and my wife told you no one by that name lives here! Stop calling!" and I hang up.

Again it rings right back. I pick up and some woman with a foreign accent says "Fuck you. I will kill you! I will shoot you in the head! I know who you are and where you live." I tell her "Fuck you" again, hang up and ignore the phone when it rings again twice more.

WTF!? Should I even bother reporting this and, if so, to who? What is anyone going to really be able to do about it? I don't know I guess I'm just venting. I'm so fucking pissed and amped up right now that there ain't no work getting done around here now. I guess if anything does happen to me I've at least documented what's happened here.

So, if you see on the news about a guy in New Jersey getting shot in the head - AVENGE ME!!

I Googled the phone number and its looks like there's a long history of people getting harrassed by them. Looks like they operate with impunity so I don't know what if anything can be done.

Here's the info on the number:

I don't think it's debt related. I don't have any overdue debt. And my mother definitely doesn't. She said it was the Diabetes Foundation, which is obviously a lie. That link I posted has people who've gotten calls from the same number and they also say stuff like Diabetes Foundation, or they "won a cruise", or they somehow got their credit card number and made bogus charges, and even mailed prescription drugs to them. These people are all over the place with their scams.

Probably an over-simplification but...if it's always the same number have you tried blocking incoming calls from that number with your phone carrier?

Yeah, I'm definitely going to try this. And I'll look for the FBI site to at least add to the long list of complaints they already must have against these people.

We had the same thing a while back with folks claiming to be from the NJ PBA and it was fun fucking with them for a while but then it got sort of scary. Same hang-ups and threating calls like 20X a day. It was easiest just to block them.
