So today I had one of my regular pangs that I've suffered since the death of X-Country (XM 12) a couple years ago, and I decided to finally poke around a bit to see if I could find an alternative.
Buddays, I can only say this: I am musically whole once again!!!
WDVX-FM, a little 200-watt station in Knoxville, TN, is EVERYTHING X-Country used to be -- great Americana, red dirt, bluegrass, zydeco, etc. And, everyday at noon they broadcast a live concert called "The Blue Plate Special" from their tiny little studios. But their production is awesome, and their PD Tony Lawson seems to be one of the few folks in terrestrial who remembers that "music radio" should be about the music.
You can stream them live for free at WDVX.com (and you can listen on your phone if you use an app like TuneIn or ServeStream), but I was so pumped that I actually donated to them.
So, if any of you loved X-Country and find Outlaw Country an atrocious replacement (which I do except for a handful of shows), check out WDVX.
