This morning I read about this Hare Krishna militant vegan guy from this band (John Joseph from Cro Mags if you're keeping score) came out saying how the tsunami was a karmic reaction to Japanese fishing practices. He also implied that eating meat is accumulating a karmic debt that is going to cause the end of the world.

Reminded me of Fez' elephant.

Yeah you cant feed kids dinner at 10:15. And depending on how young they are will determine if the shake shack thing is an issue. If you have little little kids I understand not wanting to stand around waiting for a table.

I also am not down for sitting down at 10:15, but I also would never call someone on Friday and say I need you to get us a table for Saturday.

1. There are no shitty chain restaurants or shitty restaurants in general in a city? Oh right, they're just for the suburban people coming in, right?

2. I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and I cant count the number of suburban places that make best of philly lists.

I'm actually from that area... it's a total turnaround from the dump it was in the 70s-80s. Rent was very cheap. I lived in a place with 5 bedrooms and it was $180 a month. Each. But that was 12 years ago. Nowadays, it's much more expensive, but still cheaper than NYC.

The quality of most restaurants is terrible, it has nothing to do with where they are. When I'm in the city I see way more shitty take out places than chef/owner run places. Food snobs love to run shit down. They unironically tout farm to table and act like the people in the places where the farms are dont know anything about food. They accidentally grew some shit and the benevolent city dwelling higher race came out and explained how you can actually eat those funny colored tree rocks that pop out of the dirty every time Mr Sun gets friendly again.

But to illustrate my point there is an Indian place in KoP that was best Indian Food for the Philly area by Philadelphia Magazine one year. A 20 minute drive from KoP and you hit a ton of great places that even city folk condescend to eat at.

I make no excuses for Bridgeport, which is a bit of a shit hole.

There is a set menu, family style, 1 seating a night place in West Chester that was on everyones list this year that I garunteee is harder to get into than anything in the city.

All I know is the majority of people have a taste for shit, it just seems to be a higher percentage to me in the suburbs, mainly because I know a lot of people in the suburbs and they love shit. I just have many more options for great food, cooked by someone else, in a city. And it has a lot to do with great restaurants not being able to survive in the suburbs. People there, for the most part, would rather something cheap, quick and familiar than to try something new and slightly more expensive. My favorite sub shop is in a suburb of Boston and struggles to stay open, while every shitty chain around it thrives.

And people shouldn't be judged for that. Not everyone eats recreationally but food people judge them like they do. I know people who hate eating, and put as little thought into it as possible.

My biggest issue with the attitude is a majority of the time you say to someone "you should eat better" you're actually saying to them "you should have more money" or "be more educated." I think it's an incredibly crass thing to do. As I've said before food judgement is an extremely classist thing.

I agree, to an extent. When I'd work in the ghetto, I'd see McDonalds and Burger King packed constantly with large families. Even as cheap as that is (which it really isn't if you get a meal), it's not cheaper than cooking at home. But it's just laziness. My mom would bring me and my sister to McDonalds because she didn't feel like cooking.

At a resturant the other day, two cars parked in the parking lot, driving lane, opposite direction, drivers out yacking (not a wreck), screaming at the other drivers "You're idiots if can't get between, you shouldn't be driving". I'm prejudise against people who block parking lots.

All films have agendas.

You mean, lessons to be learned?

What's the agenda of The Goonies or Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Texas sucks.

I like the Dennis Quaid. Good actor. Not always great movies, but he's always good.

But please please please ask about Randy!!!

I know he won't... but I'd love to hear what he thinks about his brother.

I dont think that Ron would ever risk pissing off a guest (even though talking about Randy might not piss him off) - due to his Unmasked gig...

My son did the smoke stick (electroinc cigarette), he quit. Trying to get me on it...pretty pricey but certainly cheaper than cigerattes and for sure healthier.

my cousin uses those and he says the problem is, with a normal cigarette, you know when you're done with it....with the smoke stick, its difficult to judge when to put it down. he sits at the computer puffing on one of those the entire night. it does deliver an amount of nicotine, but i'll agree its obviously healthier than a regular cig.

Re: Ron asking about Randy.

I was actually annoyed Ron asked him about Randy. I thought Ron had more tact than that. Ron shouldn't have dug deeper once Dennis said they hadn't talked in a few years. Considering how batshit Randy's been, that would have been a clue to drop it.

I completely agree with Tenbats.
I've never heard Ron be SO obvious & clumsy as when he awkwardly tried to get Dennis to give up a little Randy Quaid dirt.

That was some fingercuffs-level subtlety, Ron. Jeesh.
