oh cool.....the Uncanny Valley discussion. I love this topic...its not a theory though Fezzy. there is an actual drop in approval ratings as animated faces look more and more realistic. When graphed out it literally creates a "valley" of data that falls below a certain line of approval. Its fascinating to me, and they're glossing right over it. bummer.

exactly....people are weirded out by those. there is a sense of discomfort when you're watching human faces that are animated like that because the brain doesn't quite know how to process the image. its too close to being completely human and at the same time, too close to being completely animated still. its a disassociation that makes the image uncomfortable to look at.

you can see the difference between the two. the scanner darkly you can tell is an animated human.....the GTA pics look more cartoony and are therefore more acceptable subconsciously. its a really fine line between the two that dips dramatically once its crossed.
