i don't think i'd be going too far in thinking that everyone out there in media, especially in the radio biz knows who kevin trudeu is and that he's a miserable waste of human existence. Certainly the suits do, but i wouldn't expect those jagoffs to give two shits about what they're promoting so long as it pays well. if i had a show that did live reads and was handed that script, i'd absolutely refuse to read that or have it read on my show.

HAHA...looked him up and loved this quote on his wiki...
"Certainly pitchman Kevin Trudeau learned this lesson years ago. After serving a 2-year federal prison sentence for credit card fraud he changed course. He's since made far more money stealing from the gullible using phony self-help programs and books than he ever did as a common forger... Kevin learned a valuable lesson: outright stealing – doing things like forging checks and stealing credit card numbers might get you locked up – but dressing up a pyramid scheme to look like a legitimate business will probably only get you sued."
Lock it up. Sissy Spacek earned an Oscar for it.

Basically you would just have to spend some brain energy and voice your opinion to show that you're not a total fucking retard. I think that would do it. I'm not saying every american has to write a 500 word essay.....but if you went in there and said, "I agree with this candidate more on this one issue than the other candidate's opinion of the same" well then sir go ahead and pull that lever.
I think forcing people to be slightly knowledgeable about making such an important decision wouldn't be a terrible thing.

I get your point, but certain parts of our country don't have a good record of mixing restriction of voting rights with tests...
Literacy tests, along with poll taxes and extra-legal intimidation,[1], were used to deny suffrage to African-Americans in a number of southern states, while allowing many illiterate whites to vote. This was accomplished by making the test inordinately difficult and allowing test-givers to choose who had to take the test and who did not. Most African-Americans in the south were effectively disenfranchised from the 1890s until the 1960s.
Southern states abandoned the literacy test only when forced to do so by federal legislation in the 1960s. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literacy_test)
Also, imagine trying to come up with the question(s) to ask- trying to make the question unbiased and accurate...
"Are you for the candidate that wants to raise your taxes and destroy the economy?"
"Are you for the candidate that thinks the federal government should help people who make bad decisions?"
realmenhatelife
04-12-2011, 11:05 AM
Any 'voting test' could be way too easily manipulated to exclude people based on prejudice. If you're excluded by the test because your education is terrible noone is ever going to improve education for people in your social group because you cant vote them into office to get it done. Not to mention how much money it would cost to run these tests and monitor lisence holders during voting.

What % of black voters just voted for Obama because he was black - or white non-voters that didnt vote for him just because he was black?
Point being that if you have the right to vote it dosent matter why you do or dont vote for someone - its your right.
But I think it could possibly be better for our country if everyone that voted were educated on why they are voting in the first place....

true....but like i said, this wouldn't even be a test let alone a difficult one. ultimately it doesn't fucking matter.....people are going to vote for the candidate they want even if they have to make up some bullshit about why they're doing it. Its not something that could be qualified the way i'm suggesting it be done, and the way it would have to be done to be legitimate is a method I wouldn't back.
So fuck it.....people are idiots and we're going to have leaders talk to us like we're idiots in order to get elected no matter who gets to vote.

Just stop at "the country would be better if everyone were educated" then mail that shit to the republicans.

true....but like i said, this wouldn't even be a test let alone a difficult one. ultimately it doesn't fucking matter.....people are going to vote for the candidate they want even if they have to make up some bullshit about why they're doing it. Its not something that could be qualified the way i'm suggesting it be done, and the way it would have to be done to be legitimate is a method I wouldn't back.
So fuck it.....people are idiots and we're going to have leaders talk to us like we're idiots in order to get elected no matter who gets to vote.
I agreee. Democracy has some flaws. And we are not alone in that thinking... Socrates agreed:
Socrates openly taught that the principal fault of democracy was that it did not require proof of special knowledge in its leaders, that it surrendered the direction of the people’s destinies to men without adequate experience in government, and that on the question of the morality of justice of a policy it treated the opinions of all citizens as equal in value. (http://www.allanstime.com/Government/socrates_democracy.htm)
Still, just imagine trying to get agreement on the questions that could be asked at the poll. Both sides argue that their proposals lower the deficit, lower taxes for the middle class, and keep the country safest... and they'd want the question to reflect that.
