Death by rat!!! Ew.

I like that the battle lines are being drawn a bit clearer. I'm getting to know who is who and battling for the Iron Throne.

Tyrion's conversation with his cousin was so good, there alone is Peter Dinklage's deserving every award out there for acting.

Joffery is a psychopath. A real asshole. It's just uncomfortable to look at him.

I loved the 13. The main merchant was great. I hope we get to know more of them.

And WTF was up with that ending?! Yikes.

Twyin strikes me as the sort of man who despises the rest of his family, but tolerates them for the sake of appearances even as they're destroying a kingdom and it is so fucking perfect that the only Lannister who would make a good leader is the Imp.

Yep - they were sleeping and were attacked. The Kingsguard were looking for Gendry and Arya told them that Lommie (that was stabbed because he couldnt walk) was Gendry because he was holding Gendry's bull helm. That was the end of that episode....

Ok uniquely I can get behind. I find that girl that was on Mad Men who's on Girls now to be uniquely beautiful. But even that as I'm typing it sounds stupid, why can't just find her beautiful? Fuck all this, there's just beauty, that's it. I'm making a law.

I liked seeing King Jeoffery getting shit in his face, however every time Tyrion yells at him I fear he's going to have him executed!

Where was Tyrion's bodyguard during the public riot?

And who exactly are the Wildings/Whitewalkers beyond the wall?

John Snow and those men are going after who...? Is it an army of wildings that is invading the south? I'm still not really sure what is going on up there.

The wildings are the people who live north of the wall. The whitewalkers are something else. The Night's Watch went north to check on what is going on north of the wall when Jon's uncle never returned. They are going primarily to track the wildings. Qhorin tells them all the wildings are gathering with Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall, and that is what they are investigating at the moment. Where are they, how many are there and what are they up to.

They are aware of the whitewalkers but the objective is currently investigating the wildings.

I don't think it came up in the book because Tyrion was one of the first to reach safety. That whole scene ended up being about Sansa being rescued by The Hound and the Septon being ripped apart.

The thing that bothers me now is that Bran has escaped Winterfell, but the two frog-eater kids were never introduced. They're kinda important to the story.

I think I'm done after this season.

Frankly there are too many characters that I can't even remember the names of and there are too many storylines going on at once. Plus, I'm finding I don't give a shit about any of these storylines.

They killed off two of the three best characters in the first season IMO and now the only things I care to see are Joffrey being brutally murdered, Daenerys getting naked again and the fucking White Walkers. Unless one of those three happen or are promised to happen shortly into season 3, then I think I'm out.

Well to be fair that 2nd kill saved her life. Not to mention saying those 3 your basically pinning your 3 kills on a pipe dream. The guy is nowhere near the castle and if he does get there its not exactly easy to kill the king and queen.

I thought two episodes ago was slightly dull but this past week was really good, I'm surprised theres so much grumbling. I like the whole Tyrion in Court thread, and also the more we get to see of Celgane's protective feelings to Sansa.

I really liked Arya and Tywin together, and wished there had been a bit more tension around the meeting with Littlefinger. Maybe some more furtive looks.

But I think it was really Theon's episode, and they let Dany do some more acting. I like her and the black dude's chemistry as well.

Jon was a bit annoying, it's hard to believe he would do something as stupid as let the Wildling woman live.

OK, I guess I was right. So they were hung for people to think they were the Stark children, when indeed they were not.

But then why did Theo continue to allow his sister to think that it was when she said they would have been better off alive?

Looks like next week the war starts. I think we might get two episodes of war action.

Everyone hates him as it is, better to let everyone, including his sister, think he's a heartless bastard that would kill the kids than some incompetent that would let a cripple and a child escape.

I don't think that Jaime would respect the Knight of Flowers enough. He seems the type that women and Renly think he's great, but he hasn't proven himself to someone like Jaime. If the Mountain is on the list, then the Hound would be too because they've made it seem like the two are somewhat equally matched.

The Hound belongs to Joff/Cersei.

Bronn is Tyrion's man. Tyrion implanted him as captain of the City Watch against Cersei's wishes, so he is as much a target as Tyrion is (in case you didn't realize it, it was one of the remaining Kingsguard that went after the Imp)

That was a perfect hour of television. Perfect.

Loved the story lines, dialogue, acting, etc. but if I had to quibble about anything (and I guess I don't have to but am choosing to) for me the battle scenes felt a little under-budgeted. I realize that this is TV and they don't have the time or money to do Lord of the Rings scale effects, I believe a bit of judiciously placed CGI could have added some grandeur to an epic event.

A small complaint but given that I think they get everything else right* in this series it stuck out a bit for me.

*Another bit of anachronism is that the ladies who get naked are probably a bit too Pilates toned for a medieval lifestyle but I shan't be complaining about that. :innocent:

I'm guessing you mean Littlefinger, but I don't think there really needs to be some puppetmaster for powerful houses like the Tyrells and Lannisters to get together (maybe just an envoy). One side needs warm bodies, the other needs a seat at the table...with Marjorie now a widow and Joff betrothed to useless Sansa, it's pretty simple math.

But that's interesting, you trust the Queen of Thorns but not Margery when the scene before shows both of them talking to Sansa about how best to get to Joffrey. So I suspect whatever they're up to they're in it together.

I like the Hound, I'm a sucker for that kind of character. I certainly like him in the books, and we'll see how far they let that go in the show. They've had some of it, with his relationship with Sansa and his turning on Joffrey, but maybe they wont be able to devote the screen time to what else goes on with him. I hope they do.

The show is especially good with one on one scenes, especially when people are at odds. The best scene in the first season was Cersei/Robert and the best scenes last season were Cersei/Tyrion, Arya/Tywin, and Cersei/Sansa. The Hound has the potential for some great one on one scenes this season, as do Brienne and Jaime.

Seriously. By most shows standards tonight could have sufficed for a season finale. And it's episode FOUR.

I liked the episode but I wish they hadn't cut Arya's story where they did. Either tack that little bit where you introduce Berric and set up the trial by combat onto the last episode or wait till next episode when you can actually show the combat and the outcome.

So awesome....I knew Calissi (or however you spell it) spoke the slave masters language.....that was so awesome though how they teased that out until the end of the episode. I actually find myself feeling really bad for Jamie and am rooting for him now. Also, awesome scene with the Watch and the creep in the woods, but was bummed that Jeor Mormont ate it. really great episode.

I feel like I missed something with that Watch part. Why are they trying to kill the fat kid? And was it the Watch guys that rebelled and killed everyone?

Best episode so far this year. So much shit. I think setting up the trial works great as a mini-cliffhanger.

Gutter, didn't realize they spoke valyrian, makes total sense in hindsight, although I was asking what was to stop her from using all of the unsullied against the slavers once she had control of them. Also figured if she didn't sack that city the dragon would kill that guy and just rejoin daenerys.

Yeah, there was a revolt of the watch. They also hated the fat kid for being a fuck-up from the beginning and resented that snow and mormant protected him constantly.

There were a couple of glances that Daenerys shoots that guy in the previous episodes that tipped me off....but mostly I was hopeful that the end result would wind up with her basically doing exactly what she did. Her agreeing to barter one of her dragons didn't fit her character, so as soon as she struck that deal, I knew the slave master guy was fucked. I love how they did that too....she says a bunch of things in Valyrian, but the dude is too amazed by the dragon that he's the last one to notice, and then he's on fire. it was great. She's such a badass.

Best of this season by far. This was Varys' episode. His long game at revenge and manipulation is genius. Love the Queen Of Thorns too. Here be dragons! That is one bad ass army.

Loved the reveal of his castration story....that was really cool and morbid. Little confused though by his plotting against Littlefinger....won't plotting against Littlefinger put Sansa, who he says he is trying to protect in danger? Or is it a risk he's willing to take to keep Littlefinger from becomming a lord by marriage?

The other thing about it too, is that by the end of the conversation he has with the old lady she says, "well then I suppose we already know the solution to that problem then"....which, to me at least, alluded to them murding Sansa, who he said he was trying to protect.

The telling part was when he said he liked LF, but knows he'd burn the kingdom if it meant he could rule the ashes.

Most dangerous man in the kingdom! haha. A lot of the times, I forget that, more than most shows, things in GoT are purposely confusing until they play out completely.

I think you need to look at the Lady of Thorns and Margery Terrel as the same character. Right after Sansa tells Thorns that Joffrey is a monster Margery goes and fawns over his crossbow and talks about killing people. Right after Thorns and Varys talk about Littlefinger needing Sansa to take the North Margery suggests that Sansa could marry Loras and move to High Garden.

The telling part was when he said he liked LF, but knows he'd burn the kingdom if it meant he could rule the ashes.

That is very telling but I dont think Varys is as altruistic as all of that. He's from the East, he's on his third dynasty of kings, he was a beggar and now he's on the small council. I think anything that advances his cause is his primary motivation, and his primary cause may just be his own survival.

When Ned Stark asked him who he served he answered, "The realm. Someone must." He had no reason to lie to him in that situation. I agree that keeping his own head attached is his first priority, but otherwise he really does try to do what he sees as right.

Good point, though my confusion was more with the intentions of Varys....he says he wants to protect Sansa but the conversation with the lady of thorns, especially the closing lines, make it seem otherwise.

I wonder if they're going to do the same thing with Ilyn Payne. The actor is terminally ill and he pops up a little more, although it would be probably easier to rewrite the character than to recast that gorky, googly looking bastard.

Yeah I remember thinking that when I read it, and any book set in the middle ages where they do oral.

The nudity episode, kingslayer backsack.

I'm glad they really tightened up the focus for this episode instead of jumping here and there for 30 seconds at a clip. And even the short scenes had a really nice impact, like introducing Selyse and Shereen Baratheon, and Jorah with Barristan.

All in all a really strong episode.

i really liked the makeup job for the greyscale scar on the little princess. now that i see it, she looks like she is part dragon, living in dragonstone . i was wondering how they were going to work in davos learning how to read.

also i LOVED the bathing scene with jamie and brienne (and not just for jamie's ass shot . though brienne's wasnt so bad herself). i really liked the emotion poured into the telling of the horrors jamie saw as aegon's kingsguard, the junxtaposition of brienne being sparkling clean and jamie so utterly filthy in the telling, and jamie asking to be called his proper name instead of "kingslayer".

fantastic
