Horde King..I'm trying to sell 2 cars right now. I actually just put an ad in the paper for one. The other I am trying to get a price on. What do you think is the best site to get an accurate price? I've tried Kelley Blue Book, Galves, carprice.com, and even the guy at the used car place. Everyone is giving me a different answer that are all so far from each other. I never realized how difficult all this was. Do you have any tips? Should I just bite the bullet and trade one of them in? I won't be surprised if I'm raped and killed when I go alone to show the car to someone.....
Anyone wanna buy a car???? PLEASE?????!!!!!

95 Crown Victoria 58,000miles(ad in paper)

95 Mer. Cougar. 148,000m

ok here's the prices from some websites for the 95 Cougar...but who's right?? Which price do I go with? I know if I do trade it in I will get nothing, noone wants it. I am most definetly buying a 2003Corolla.

Edmonds-TradeIn-$998
Private Party-$1672
Dealer retail-$2800

KelleyBlueBook-TradeIn-$2540
Private Party-$4335

Galves-$1900

Carprice.com-wholesale-$5,323
Retail-$6379

Also, if I bring it to the Toyota dealer where I buy the new car, can they refuse to take it? When I mentioned I had a car to trade in the guy was like," What am I gonna do with that, I don't want it, try to sell it. " But if it comes down to when I actually buy the car, will they take it?

DREAMWEAVER - You hit the nail on the head. Every website and book gives differing prices quotes on cars. Since the quotes vary greatly it's hard to determine what a fair price is.

If you have a mechanic that's familiar with your car, ask him or her, his or her opinion as to what the car is worth.

I've found an appraisal by someone who knows cars in general and your car specifically will give you the most realistic appraisal and will not STEER you wrong. (I couldn't resist).

The most important thing you can possibly do is to maintain constant vigilance for your safety. Do not get into a car with a stranger. You're better off letting him drive the car alone. Keep his license to ensure he returns.
