Thats not true at all. Any time Ive EVER seen one person getting jumped by 2 or more people Ive stepped in and pulled them off. And I know plenty of other people that have too. Its actually something that lead to HUGE arguments with my wife, who doesnt like violence and would rather I not get involved.

But when I was 14 I got jumped by a group of 15 kids. One of them wanted to rob me and I refused so they took turns swinging on me. I couldnt really fight back because I was just trying to push them off of me. Id throw one off me and get cracked by another. Caught a nice ass whipping. Then a complete stranger pulled up in a Benz and got them away from me. Ever since then I felt like it was something I owed to anyone Ive seen getting outnumbered and beat up.

Its not the same thing. Sure black crimes are on the news every night. Most crimes are. Heres why I disagree with you on this point, at least from my point of view. My point was blacks arent held to the same standards as white when the roles are reversed. That doesnt mean blacks can insult everyone else without any kind of backlash.

I cant say for sure because it didnt happen but in my opinion, nobody wouldve said a word had he called NYC Honkytown. I totally agree with your first point. My point in posting about his past was not to say he shouldn't have worked there. I'm pointing out that with someone who has a history of violent crimes, it's not surprising that he may have trouble acting in a reasonable manor to defend himself when attacked. As a bartender, I was attacked behind the bar by a guy twice my size. Once I had control of him, the thought crossed my mind to slam his face down on the steel corner of a cooler. But then I realized, as pissed as I was, I didn't want to kill him.

I saw one girl bite a bouncers arm through the skin, when he pulled her off he gave her a Test-like big boot right in her face causing her to fly backwards off of a flight of 6 brick steps onto the concrete. She got arrested, he got medical treatment from a paramedic.

The point is when you decide to come behind a bar or counter in a threatening way in someones work, that person should be able to just fuck you up. I know Ive got about 30 liter bottles back there that I have no problem swinging on someone with. That being said, you cant kick people in the head when they are down. Its just dumb. Kick the ribs, the arms, or legs, but once you start kicking the head youre going to wind up looking at some kind of charges.

Every department has slightly different use of force policies.

I guess the hardest thing for most people to understand with these kinds of situations is how easy it is to get severely injured by an emotionally disturbed person. I'm not saying that the woman in the car posed a deadly threat, but trying to pull someone who is combative out of a vehicle poses several issues.

Pulling a flailing person out any way can severely injure an officer's back, and the person has a strong power base when they are planted in a seat. In terms of physical alteration, power base refers to the dramatic increase in force a person can deploy when a significant portion of their body is braced against an immovable object. People sitting and laying on the ground have a tremendous power base if their limbs are in the appropriate spot. This is one of the reasons why when a subject is proned out on the ground, they are usually made to cross their ankles as it tangles up their legs and limits their capability to push off of the ground.

It is also the reason why subjects are proned out on their stomach. A person laying on their back can inflict severe injury with kicks because their entire body is braced on the ground. Whereas a person standing and throwing a kick has a power base limited to their support leg. You can see this in MMA a lot, where a downed fighter can fight a standing opponent from their back effectively by throwing kicks. The same capability is present in someone who is being pulled feet first out of a vehicle, which is a bad spot for an officer to be. Sure, if someone throws a kick at you from a car seat, you might be able grab their feet and yank them out. The problem there is that you end up cracking their head on the pavement, which is not good. The Taser allows them to subdue the subject without having to fight. If 3-4 officers fought this woman without the Taser, both her and the officers likely would have sustained injuries. This isn't Hollywood where people can beat the shit out of each other and then go to the bar for beers after work. Most fights that officers get into result in injuries.

Some other things to consider with this particular video: We have no idea what happened before the clip, which starts just seconds before the taser is deployed. Also, an emotionally disturbed person is dangerous on their own, but when they are in their own vehicle, the possibility that their are weapons or other dangerous objects within reach of the subject always weighs heavily on the officer's mind, as that is how officers go home in body bags.

I'm not going to say that this video doesn't look bad. But these types of situations don't usually present a solution that will look good in a 30 second youtube clip. The bottom line is that as soon as the property manager is willing to citizen's arrest on the trespassing charge against the woman, the officers are now duty bound to arrest the woman and remove her from the premises. Generally, a dolt that thinks it is acceptable to bitch out about their fast food order and block a drive through for 20 minutes is not going to go with the officers peacefully; they are already disturbed beyond reason at that particular moment. You said that she was not threatening based on the article. I don't know how a woman with a 3 year old child who cuts in a drive through line and then refuses to leave, and then refuses to comply with the police who are completely in the right is not threatening.

As the witness quoted in the article said, the woman refused verbal orders to exit her vehicle, and then physically resisted two attempts by the officers to remove her. At that point, what would you have the officers do? Physically fight the woman inside the vehicle with the possibility of unknown weapons and a 3 year old child? Or drive stun her for 5-10 seconds and remove her without any damage to her, her child, her property, or the officers?

Basically, the cops can't ever prevent you from filming or taking photos short of things that are sensitive -- bridges, power plants and other stuff that could be considered terrorist targets. They can ask you to back away to a safe distance but that's it. There are local laws that may prevent it, but it looks like the judiciary branch is having none of that and are striking down the laws left and right since being a cop doesn't give you any extra expected privacy in public.

Which, of course, is good because it shows how cops stopped giving a fuck about protecting the public are only in it to protect themselves. All part of the paramilitarizing of the police force. We're not that far from shitting all over the Posse Comitatus Act and creating a gendarmerie in the US since both sides of the aisle all too happy to fork over citizens rights for the sake of appearing "tough on crime".
