I'm specifically looking for a brand called Pilsener (second and third choices would be Biela and then Club, respectively). I've called around a few places in JC and even in a few places in Manhattan. I've heard "no one has Pilsener... It's hard to get. [Try Manhattan!]/[Try Jersey!]"
I believe that no one will ever go to Ecuador for the beer. BUT, I believe in my beer-swilling friends on RF.net.

I'd appreciate if you can keep an eye out for it.

Try contacting the company.
Find out who their US importer is, which will lead to who distributes them in the States. Or perhaps the company knows the distributors themselves.
A little detective work will pay off, I think.

There's quite a few pages of reviews. You might find something there, but it's a long shot. It sounds like a typical Latin American cereal beer, but I'm guessing there's a certain sentimentality associated with this beer for that special someone in your life. If I were you, I would find the high-end liquor store with the best beer selection in your area. Ask to talk to the person who stocks/orders the beer. These guys are usually pretty helpful with ordering a specialty beer. If that person is not at the store, you might get their email or work phone number. Make very clear that this beer is not for you, or you may get snobbed.

I thought the same thing. It seems like it would be awful.
I thought I saw the beer you were talking about in Total Wine in Union. I could be wrong though.

not for you? why wouldn't you want the beer man to think it wasn't for you personally? unless thats a typo?

i'm pretty sure that in mexico and central america they make a drink called a "meichelada" obviously anheuser-busch saw an opportunity to tap into the market for the stuff. a real michelada or chelada consists of: beer, fresh lime juice, tobasco sauce, worchester sauce, ice and salt. the shit that i bought last night tasted nothing like the real thing. i guess if you doctor it up enough and serve it in a salt rimmed pint glass it would work.
