November 11, 2004 -- VINCENT D'Onofrio, the star of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," passed out while shooting the hit TV series yesterday morning — prompting insiders to gossip that the actor is "losing it."
"Ever since John Kerry lost the election, [D'Onofrio] has lost his [bleep,]" said our on-set insider.
"He has been getting into fistfights with people, and when he passed out today, we all thought he was faking it. But then he insisted they call 911."
An ambulance raced to the Queens studio, where paramedics found nothing wrong with the gifted actor, who became a star in 1987 with his searing performance as a misfit Marine in "Full Metal Jacket."
Tensions on the "Criminal Intent" set are running high. "No one thinks Vincent will last for much longer," the insider said.
"He is so hard to work with — a total freak. He constantly complains about the scripts and has held up production a lot."
D'Onofrio, a big Kerry supporter, was said to be devastated over President Bush's re-election. "When PAGE SIX [last week] wrote about 'Law & Order' putting up signs forbidding political discussions on set, it was funny," our source said. "Those signs were put up because of [D'Onofrio]."
About a month before the election, D'Onofrio "insisted" on putting up anti-Bush posters and fliers, "and would attack anyone who disagreed with him," the spy added.
In response, "Law & Order" producers posted signs banning political discussions or anything else that would impede work on set, implying that D'Onofrio had held up taping of the show with his political zealotry.
D'Onofrio's co-stars, Kathryn Erbe, Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B. Vance, are said to be fed up with his antics.
"No one — and I do mean no one — talks to him anymore," the insider added.
A rep for the show insisted there had been no "fistfights."
D'Onofrio does not have a rep. But show creator Dick Wolf said via a rep: "The stress of being the first among equals on a one-hour television drama is the most exhausting job in show business. Hours are long and stress levels are high.
"Any actor who has been in Vincent's position knows how tough it is. It is unfortunate that Vincent's health has become the topic of gossip and speculation under these circumstances
Knew a chick @ Silvercup that worked on the set. She used to tell me stories about him ranting and raving at how important this (the election) was.

The O&A stance is that the girls involved in this or say the Tiger Woods case are dispicable because they cant keep their mouths shut, and go blabbing the second it will benefit them in the slightest.
The O&A stance is also to help leak this photo the second they are able to because it benefits them in the slightest.
I honestly dont see how they're acting any differently.

They also tend to blame the people who are offended, like if you're offended you some how owe it free speech to just keep your mouth shut, which is a logic trap so dense you could murder a fucking robot with it.
If they want to blame anyone they should blame Tracy Morgan, who has decided that he has a greater interest in apologizing than in just standing behind his right to expression. Maybe it's the money he will lose or maybe, perish the thought, he legitimately didn't want to offend anyone. It's an industry that cultivates audiences, and maintaining his audience may just be more valuable to him than what becomes the juvenile principle of 'you said I cant say something so now I'm going to say it a lot.'
The O&A cast makes entertainers sound like a bunch of whiney little babies that cant handle being told they've offended someone. You're saying something purposefully offensive and when someone stands up and says "I dont think the completely subjective thing you're doing is funny, it's actually offending me which is atleast partially your intent," they act all wounded. Grow some balls and own up to what you're trying to do.

That seems to go on a lot around this show, and even R&F to an extent, and the message boards dedicated to those shows. People forget that while you do, and should, have the complete and total right to say what you want, the other side of that is that you have to face the consequences of doing so. Tracy Morgan has the right to say what he wants, but if the producers of 30 Rock and NBC decide that they can't have them on their show after this, that's their right too. I think it would be a dumb decision, but it's their right.
If you have the right to say things that are offensive -- and you do -- then other people have the right to say that they are offended. That's kind of how the whole free speech thing works.

Exactly, O&A always want to have the discussion who is right and who is wrong with an issue of offense, and that's not something that exists, it's not how the dialogue is supposed to work. How can you begrudge a minority group saying that they dont approve of speech and attitudes that are permissive of offense towards them? Being told you're not allowed to stand up for your own interests is one of the most fundamental ways you can be oppressed.

Grand Theft Auto series of games, the goto scapegoat for school shooting apologists, has sold over 100 million units.
Saying that every school shooter has played these types of games, which may or may not be true, is like saying that every school shooter has a diet high in corn products. Based on that fact alone, you can't say that the gaming contributes to the quantity of school shootings.
Jimmy is doing what he criticizes the media for doing, jumping to sensationalist conclusions without any data to back it.

eh, i don't think he was really taking that big of a step. He said that violent video games are a component of the end result....he's not blaming video games as an individual cause of real world violence, but recognizes (and did say) that its just a small part the overall effect. He said the violence in video games desensitizes a person to the violence to a point, but was careful not to say that they should be banned, or that its the sole cause of school shootings or violent behavior......he noted violent video games can be a small part of the cause when combined with mental issues, bad parenting, anxiety, etc, etc etc. He also agreed when Opie said that the correlation between playing violent video games and committing real violence constitutes an incredibly small percentage of the population.
sorry, i think you're off on this one.

Based on the saturation of violent video games compared with the actual number of juvenile school shooters, I have determined that you don't have to worry about it because if it is ever proved that violent video games cause kids to commit homicide, it is such a low probability that you are better off worrying about lightning striking your gonads.
I read an article (of unknown veracity) that brought up the high percentage of mass murderers that use anti-depressants. That would be an interesting thing to look at scientifically. Unfortunately, I'm no scientist.

Researchers have repeatedly shown (PDF) in blind experiments that children are more aggressive in the moments after playing violent video games, and long-term studies suggest that the effects may be lasting among habitual gamers.
Researchers separate participants into two groups—one plays a violent game and the other something more benign. Following their gaming sessions, the subjects must impose some form of punishment on an unseen third party...In virtually all large-scale studies, researchers find that the children who just finished the shoot-'em-up game will opt for more brutal punishment.

He said that every school shooter has played violent video games and that had been part of the cause of the shooting. As far as I can tell, that is a jump to a sensationalist conclusion.
And while the tests Sailor quoted may be accurate, having kids inflict punishment on "an unseen third party" is closer to a video game than real life. What is the point of making the target of the punishment an unseen third party?
