ICHIBAN: Check your PSEG bills this month kids. My one bedroom apt. apparently racked up $445 dollars with one air conditioner that's turned off 8 1/2 hours out of the day for July.

This is just the electric portion btw. Add another 36 dollars for the gas.

That's ridiculous. I wonder if they just got around to reading your meter after a few years of not looking at it. I lived in a place like that once and got whacked with a huge bill.

But all my bills have the dates of each meter reading and the total bill is pretty consistent. Heat and hot water are included in the rent, so my summer bill is usually higher than my winter, but I would have to have a huge house with central AC on all the time to rack up that much.

If they weren't reading the meter, than how would they even be able to back track that, and what were my previous payments based on? I hope its just an obvious over charge that they can fix. If you look at your actual bill, they break out the KWH that you're being charged for. On this bill, I'm getting charged for 4 different KWH when normally its only 2. That still only accounts for $136, which means my July bill is $309 which is still ridiculous. I hope I don't have to fucking scream at any one over the phone today.

yea, I've heard they aren't too quick to notice a major discrepancy like that as their mistake. It's a bit of a "the meter is never wrong" attitude over there from what I hear.
