Here we go!
Alec Baldwin, with musical guest: Radiohead.
I wonder if this will be Wiig's last season. I think so. And I also think that Fred Armesin might leave too.

I have not seen this show in years. I know its still on the air and Lorne Michaels is still the man in charge, it just does not seem pertinent any more.

Lorne Michaels will not give up that show until his corpse is hauled out of his office at 30 Rock, but I don't think the show will improve to any degree as long as he is still executive producer.

She's the only highlight. Its an awful show. I know the rub on SNL is to always say that, "...the show hasn't been good in years..." BLAH-BLAH-BLAH, but seriously, this show is truly awful now. Other than the occassional good guest and Wiig, this show is painful. Andy What's-his-nuts is crap, The fat kid is just a fat kid, the fat black kid is just a black version of the fat white kid and Seth Meyers is comedy zinc.

I always find it interesting that -no matter how old a person is- people always say "the show was funny years ago, but nowadays it stinks". It's a love/hate rating system that no other show can own the way SNL does. PERHAPS it's because it's one of the longest running shows in history. But it's also likely that people simply outgrow the show. It's similar to the way people largely tend to connect with bands/music from when they were younger.
I don't think the show "sucks" today. The same way that it isnt true that "music sucks today".

In all seriousness, I am going to revisit the show and new music because of your post.
I'm serious, thank you.....Great post.

Melissa McCarthy, she was in Bridesmaids and just won an Emmy for Mike & Molly.

So is all her comedy in those centered around her being fat? Because that gets kind of old.

Last night's episode was funny as fuck. The skits AND the pre-produced bits were all funny and energetic. It was better than the season premiere by a looong mile.
Weekend Update is the weakest part of the show these last years. Seth Meyers simply isn't funny. I think he's painfully average in his delivery. Additionally... I hate that he ALWAYS reacts to EVERY ONE of his jokes. He always has some little "moment" after he delivers his punchline. I loathe him.
NEXT WEEK:
BEN STILLER
with musical guest

Ouch and ouch!
The Ben Stiller episode was lukewarm.
The Anna Farris episode was one of the worst entire episodes that I can remember. Almost unwatchable. Sometimes the show is born bad... like when Andy Roddick or whatever his name is is the host. Or John McCain. Or that olympic swimmer that got caught smoking pot at a party. These shows have no potential because the host has nothing to do with entertainment. Really bad from the ground up.
But Anna Farris is a funny, likeable, comedic actress. One with good timing and a cute, unique appeal. There's no excuse for an episode with her as the host has to be PAINFULLY unfunny.
What a fucking misfire.

Why do they have to have multiple guests on Weekend Update every week? If they're the real celebrity who happens to be in the news that week, fine. But these fake characters are uniformly horrible.
(The best one, maybe ever, was the week Jim McGreevey resigned and they had James Gandolfini on as Tony Soprano to comment on it)

I been watchin' SNL since the 1st Season, and they've -always- had their share of unfunny, head-scratching numb-as-fuck bomb skits.
They had a few up Seasons when the show was so popular that if you saw a bad skit, you gave it a pass. I've been on the bandwagon of "SNL sucks nowadays" -but can you think of anything that was consistently "awesome" over 30+ years? -I mean -besides- Jeopardy?

I have watched maybe 50 eps in my entire life and the funniest ones I watched were the older ones with Eddie Murphy and then again during the Chris Farley days. I never understood the love of this show, for the most part its more often terrible and not funny more then it is actually funny.

I grew up watching it too. It's had some memorable moments I wouldn't want to have missed. I don't know if I just never noticed it in the past, but for the most part they seem to pick one joke per skit and tell it a dozen different ways. I still like watching around the holidays and campaign seasons though.
I know what you mean about the love hate rating system though Fezident, if they didn't appeal to the masses it probably wouldn't be around anymore, like Jay Leno.

How do you think Charlie Day will do. Love the dude and Always Sunny, but I never would have guessed that one. I hope he kills.
