Saw it.
Loved it.
It was extremely well made.... the plot moved along briskly.... and the whole thing really felt "real". There was no sci-fi nonsense. There was no terrorism sub-plot.

I really enjoyed this movie as a whole. I almost always complain about at least ONE aspect of a movie. ("they're just setting it up for a sequel" , "it felt like a videogame", "the CGI sucked dicks", poor casting... etc) but, I gotta say....
Contagion really nailed it.. Great (fuckling depressing!) movie!

The only movie I found Paltrow attractive in was Iron Man, and they intentionally glammed her up. I never saw her really that hot in anything else.

I think the creators of this movie purposefully toned the action. This movie is intended to be reality based. It didn't need a helicopter chase to make it feel more complete like Outbreak did. And it didn't need scenes of entire towns being torched by guys in biohazard suits. etc etc etc.
It was supposed to be more of a "holy shit... THIS is how it would all go down if a virus took over the planet" story. And I think it succeeded quite nicely.

Yeah, but I do worry that a lot of people are going to go into this expecting an "Outbreak" type thriller, and then come out telling people it's boring 'cause there weren't enough 'splosions in it.

The marketing for it doesn't seem to have done any favors, by playing up the horror/thriller aspects of it.

I'm surprised. I usually agree with your opinions about movies.
I really thought it did a fine job of taking a story about the deaths of billions.... and distilling it down to a few personal stories. And I also liked that it wasn't gimmicky in terms of camera movements and editing.
What was it about this particular movie that didn't grab you?
