I never used to be a complete Opie Hater. However, his horrible way of speaking in a strange slang/uneducated manner unfitting an older white gentleman, and his ridiculously unfunny way of doing everything else has become too much. Regardless of what he's claimed over the years, they aren't doing stunty shock jock stuff any longer...so his "outrageous fits of fancy" have no value. Plug anyone in there, and I'm nearly certain the show would be the same. At least, I'd scream at the receiver a whole lot less.

To play devil's advocate- the climate is such that it's dictating the kind of material they as a platform want to present, most likely for financial reasons. O&A make it personal, but if doing the 55 drum challenge would make them more money they'd be doing the 55 drum challenge in a second. It's a business partnership where both parties need to benefit, O&A have traded the benefit of the unlimited artistic freedom they would have if they say, podcasted, for the financial rewards, bigger audience and access to celebrities that working on satellite gives them. Why should this or any platform which has to risk relatively much compared to O&A's relatively little out of some obligation to O&A's freedom of expression? O&A have never particularly shown much consideration of that risk to any platform they've been on in the past. The door opens both ways, O&A dont really give a shit what Sex for Sam or Homeless Charlie has potential to do to their employers and their employers dont really give a shit what protecting their own financial asses has to do with O&A's delicate artistic feelings.

I hate the bitching, just for that I would love to hear them get to do anything they want, and the regular O&A fans would all probably enjoy the show better, but they dont work for the O&A company, they're associated with the whole platform, especially when they do something that draws public ire, and they ultimately wont have to pay the biggest price if that ire comes down.

Before you feel too bad consider that they keep signing their contracts, it means they aren't so committed to their artistic aspirations that they'll take a massive pay/audience cut and go to podcasting. Dont believe the hype, I've listened to O&A since the 90s, they bitch because they dont have other shit to talk about. It's a lazy habit. They have never been 'happy' with 'management' at any stage in their career. They've always compared what they can do now to what they used to be able to do, it's a little game, it's a little radio trick.

Oh man, it's so unreasonable, the product that gave us the money for this contest doesn't want the contestants being shown a raw dick while it's going on. I know there is a thread around here about how shitty the SiriusXM apps and the web-feeds work.. I also know that when the Virus feed goes down, the other feeds are fine.

I also know this has been going on for at least 6 mos and the channel in general and not just the O&A show.

The point of all this; There *has* to be an interesting story behind all of this.

*WHY* is just one channel effected?

*Why* does it appear that the employees of the Virus channel seem to know about it, -but don't really mention it all that much?

There might be 20 people who know the details of this, or there might be 2. It may be the type of question you just don't want to ask, you have to wonder if someone didn't say:

"okay, you want to be snotty and act like you aren't happy to be here, fine. Not only will we not lift a finger to support or develop or promote your show, update your videos etc.

We will fuck with your feed and annoy your listeners and you will slowly lose them by attrition. And you will never be able to prove that we did it deliberately.

I have no trouble listening to any XM in my vehicles system. And I've heard that Sirius has a better satellite and more robust feeds than the XM side. Their transportable players seem to work better.

But web connectivity from PC, and Ipad Iphone apps sucks BIG Donkey dick.

An entity like Sirius, -so big. They are untouchable and can do anything they want.

I sure would like to know if there is something to the way they treat that channel like dirt though.

Complaining to the man is a joke. I remember calling support once a couple of years ago and got some ghetto mamacita was snapping gum axing me for my username and passwurd.

See, the thing is... I'm not the only one who has noticed. Twitter is full of mentions that the O&A stream is fucked. And when it is DOWN. You can go to those music stations. Or ANY other station on Sirius XM and it's up and running.

Sure, streams drop out, you restart them. But NOT as much as the Virus does, and when it drops out, you can't get it back, even after restarting your device.

I definitely think it could be the result of one person saying; "fuck them"... Also fucking with the stream *could* conceivably enhance sales, if people give up and just buy a new portable.

The show represents what, a fraction of a % of the pie. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that the execs they are butting heads with can (and do) fuck with the show in any number of ways. And fucking with the stream is a great way to do it.

There's more to it, History will tell the tale eventually. I just hope O&A wind up with R&F without regard to what happens.

i have noticed this. they all are kind of like this, they are surface smart. well read in what is happening right now. they are not well read or actually intelligent, and can not associate their current argument with any poignant points from past history.

on an unrelated note, when they come back from break sometimes, opie will say what song it is when i can 100% tell he has no clue. i wish someone had the balls to pull all the rejoiners and make him listen and name each one. i bet he would not be over 60%
