This has been a passion project for Brad.
I have high hopes for it.

Why?

A story about the most overrated GM in sports history?

Moneyball.

Sign bums cheap and pump them full of roids,

And still not win..

Are they gunna do a fake ending where this bum actually wins?

Yeah, I've never seen any evidence that "Moneyball" in its purest form can actually create a team capable of winning the World Series; the A's have won one playoff series in Beane's time there, but lately they've sucked ass.

I know that some other GM's, like Theo Epstein and Brian Cashman, have used elements of the Moneyball approach in some of their signings, but they also have a big shitload of money to spend, which I suspect is more important.

Notice they started really going down hill after the testing got more strict.

the concept of moneyball is finding value in something other people do not find value in, or at least undervalue. At the time it was OBP. It's helped large market teams, as well.

Spending tons of money on face value players does nothing for you. Ask Mets fans.

Yeah, coming up with a novel approach and then sharing it with everyone will not give you a competitive advantage.

Exactly. He traded a competitive advantage for telling everyone how smart he was. Pure hubris.

Right because people did not look for players that got on base before Beane.

Williams, Joe D, Willie, Mantle, BAH!!!

Good players get on base, WHAT A CONCEPT!

Power hitters hit HRs too!!

OBP and OPS were very undervalued ways of looking at players.

I'm looking at it as a movie. The fact that they fight and have unpredictable degrees of success makes it interesting. I don't think this will be the same old sports movie.

Brad Pitt looks more and more like Robert Redford every day that he ages. This latest preview of this movie puts it over the edge for me. (and its not just cause I recently watched Spy Game).

I finally watched MoneyBall and it seems clear that Brad Pitt has become Robert Redford, does that seem fair? He already got to be Brad Pitt, and now he gets to be Robert Redford? Yeah, I don't like it, not one bit.

Oh BTW, I loved the movie.
