Third per capita, third per capita, third per capita, next year number one.

Hardcore in general is underrated and I get why, the bands that have the broadest audience usually have the narrower sound. The really great hardcore acts cant pull in those metal kids or those meathead kids. One of the most underrated hardcore acts of all time is Avail from Richmond Va. Sadly they arent around anymore, but Tim Barry tours solo so I guess there's always help. Included, one of my favorite covers of all time.

Also could contribute to a conversation about the great, underapreciated southern scenes of punk, Richmond and especially Gainesville.

I would add that Avail may seem oddly proud of being from Richmond while being critical at the same time. One of the real redemptive aspects of punk rock is the notion of being proud of what you have. I'm diametrically opposed to the idea that gets touted on the show, you really just need to leave your small town behind and move to New York so you can finally start your life. You will always be from that place and that place will always be a part of you, so instead of trying to hide it or hide from it you should take ownership and make it closer to what you want it to be, tell the story of that place because noone else can or will.
