I admit... I'm hooked on Revenge. Such a sleezy, ridiculous soap opera.... but I gotta see how it turns out. Once Upon A Time is OK, but seems to be heading a bit on the too cheesy side (but the Evil Queen is HOT). The only show I've really enjoyed is Grimm.

I agree with you on both. Revenge is such a great soap drama that I want to know where its going. I liked how they originally had her getting revenge every week against someone different from that picture she has hidden. They need to get back to that. The last 3 weeks no revenge of the others involved. I feel exactly as you with Once, its starting to get cheesy but I love the the Mayor/Evil Queen. She is so fucking sexy. The worse part about that show is her annoying son but thats a whole different discussion.
I havent watched Grimm even though I have read lots of good things about it. I dont know if I can deal with 2 fairy tale/ children story shows for adults.

They were showing the first hour, the pilot, for this on a plane when I was flying to Alaska at Xmastime. I saw that they edited a few crummy scenes out( the female detective has a hunky boyfriend) but added the part about her losing her partner...and who killed him.

We watched the first one last night on Hulu. Yuck.
Everything was ok as they show the mysterious day on alcatraz, then switch to the present, etc. Then comes the first scene with the female detective, and her partner, chasing the criminal across roof tops. It was so bad that I was positive they would reveal that the girl was an actress and it was a scene for a movie that was being filmed. But no, it was supposed to be real; detectives and criminals leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
As usual, the police procedure shown throughout the episode is less realistic than a radio drama from the 40's. The detective loses her partner on the job and is then allowed to work by herself for a few months? The SFPD issues it's detectives lockpicks? In real life, SFPD does not even give its officers tasers because of liability.
Well it's a good thing she's stayed solo after losing her partner, because it gives her the freedom to team up with Hurley, which I didn't even understand. He's a genius historian with a doctorate, that plays RPGs in a comic-book store in front of a wall of graphic novels about Alcatraz?
I literally went into hypothermia when the detective gets recruited into Team America in the super-secret hideout underneath alcatraz by Spotswood and his british-accented sexy assistant. This happened after Hurley and Rogue Detective were assualted by Spotswood when he threw a smoke grenade at them that instantly put them to sleep, but did it gently enough that they woke up shortly afterwords with no residual effects from the magic yellow gas. I wonder if its the same gas they used in the Moscow Theater Crisis that killed over 100 people? Good thing Rogue Detective's dispatchers were out to lunch, or they would have started wondering why she hadn't checked in for hours.
The best part of Rogue Detetive's reruitment to Team America? She gets to keep her new partner, the elite Hurley. So after some thinly written mysterious facts are revealed, the show closes with Spotswood taking the time travelling prisoner to the double-secret Team America Alcatraz replica base that is so secret, they have to drive all the way through a CGI New England forest and reemerge in Northern CA redwoods. To anyone who has never been to Northern CA, we don't have forest roads that go straight for miles like that. You basically drive on a roller coaster wherever you go. I really liked the costumes the guards were wearing in the Double-Secret base because the wardrobe from Airwolf has been underused for decades now.
This show sucks ass through a pipe.

It's episodic with a serialized story line. I'm sure each week we'll see a new former inmate out causing trouble, but then the story will unfold as to why/how they're coming back, and who is giving them directions to kill.

I think he wants to take as many of them alive as he can so that they can be interrogated and any that die can be experimented on.

Well, they were demanding answers two episodes ago. Even last episode the chick Madsen said they better get some answers or Hauser would be working on this thing alone. You have to establish a lot of different things early on in a series and I think they're doing that well. It will be revisited, but their still trying to set up lots of different pieces. They've established everyone's backgrounds and ties to the phenomenon, they've established that Madsen and Soto want some answers eventually, they've established that someone else is probably in control of the 63's. But the team getting answers, means we also get answers and it becomes anti climatic.....if we had answers right now, there would be no need to run any more episodes.

thats my thought. i hate when shows drag shit out that could be told in a few eps. i would rather know and then enjoy the series instead of it taking so long. like the killing, i thought that was pretty good but they kept dragging it out so long that the show got boring. by trying to drag that shit out so long they made a bunch of eps that sucked and really didnt add to the story.

Hey, those with no patience: how do even watch TV these days?
This show is great. This week's episode with the first of the guard was really good. We found out a lot about her "uncle" and his backstory, plus the notion of these Alcatrazians (you could call them that I guess) "jumping" into the present. The flashbacks work really well and I'm loving the Warden, who has got to be some kind of Ben Linus of the island.
Really good news is that they've already gone back into production for a full season since they've canceled House.

im guessing the people that have transferred her from 63 to present day have the technology to save her as well
or theyll just say it wasnt a kill shot and missed all vital organs
I could see it being that because didn't one of them try to tackle her away from the window or something?

I thought last nights episode was the best of the season so far. Lots of mayhem and murder and one of the most evil bastards of the 63's we've seen. We got a whole bunch of back story on Hauser and the Dr. and how their relationship started, and how she deals with the prisoners. Good stuff all the way through.
I'm also really loving how they change scenes back and forth between 1960 and present day. I can't wait for that cell door sweeper to go past because the back story of this show really is the backbone of what keeps me coming back each week. All the characters in 1960 Alcatraz scenes are well acted, especially the warden. Those little flashbacks really make this show great.

I thought last weeks eps was the best of the season if not I would have been out. I didnt really like last nights eps but it might be because the show is boring me and I find myself getting side tracked from something else or doing something on the computer while watching. Because I like the Dr from ER I will give it 1 more week to see what that deal is but I think this might get removed from my dvr schedule.

if you're distracted then you're not really watching it. I think it's as much the viewers responsibility to pay attention as it is the show's responsibility to keep us interested. Give last nights ep another watch and do the same next week, then decide if you like it.

What exactly is boring.?
We see a lil overall backstory and backstorys of the 63s and a lil progression of what they're doin in present day
since Alcatraz was pre-empted this week so America could watch talented drivers drive around in a counter-clockwise oval, does anyone know when this weeks episode will be broadcast ?

Back-to-back episodes next Monday according to Alcatraz's Facebook page, which means House gets bumped.

Can you switch it to record new eps at any time? If so you should do that in case they decide to change the night at some point, like for a second season.

Enjoys the last few eps, but am a little confused by the whole blood thing. Really thought it was going to turn out the black guy's old friend killed the original chick because of race issues. Was disappointed the episode with the two brothers ended up revolving around a different secret door than the one from earlier in the season. They need to do something with that soon.

They wait until the last episode to finally have Madsen take her jacket off and have her run around, bouncing along the way. Then we get a quick bra shot of her in the hospital.
She should have been in something skin tight and low cut all season.
