I usually avoid listening threads and such because I'm usually a week or two behind, and don't want any spoilers.

But every time I see this thread bumped, I can't help but click on it to see if anything was announced.

I've been scrambling since the first of the year to catch up on listening to the show, but I can only put in a few hours a day.

I really don't want to be more than a day behind if / when something happens. I can't imagine listening to a week's worth of shows knowing what happens at the end of that week.

I'll take this action. Ron has the sound of a man who's had all he can stands and he can't stands no more. I only heard bits of today's show but every time I tuned in Ron had a caller giving advice to Fez. Ron knows this has ceased to be entertaining (even in a cringe way) a long time ago and that Fez hates it so I have to assume he's doing it to build up the pressure on Fez.

Of course I have a ballon in my hand whilst strolling down the midway so we'll have to see.

I think that even if the Ron and Fez show as we know it ends, Ron will continue with a show during this time slot. He has always said he enjoys having a show, and I don't see him blowing the whole thing up and leaving Hicks in the lurch. He actually has a pretty entertaining crew with him right now, and he'd get to keep most of the money.

Fez Whatley has inked a deal in Orlando with an animation company and will return to work with Ron Diaz behind the scenes as producer and writer. He will not be featured on air. yeah, I meant to mention that too, Diaz does a sports show, unless it's all football all the time Fez won't have shit to write. And looking at his performance the last 6+ years who would hire him for radio, who would hire him to voice for animations? Inartful is one way to put it, sure. What seems true? Fez, whose specific issues that led to this point have been producing and acting as voice talent, would be offered a job with a man who may have tried to take his job 7 years ago at a terrestrial radio station which we're to assume had a job opening waiting for him. Oh, and a Fortune 500 company couldn't wait to offer that same man with those same issues a job at the exact same time. The guy can barely ride an elevator or eat outside of an established routine, but this vast, sudden undertaking supposedly happened without any notice? Makes sense to me.

I'd also like to point out that this entire scenario unfolded from an anonymous poster at a forum who only began posting *after* the announcement on-air that there would be some type of reveal in February. So he hasn't said anything that "came" true. He simply used information released on-air to form a narrative that can't be proven or disproven at all until this Friday. Wouldn't Adam Carolla and Zach Morris be long-dead if everything posted here were treated as some kind of authoritative source? I'd also remind you that this follow-up post came only after the show confirmed on-air that the reveal would be on a specific date. So this ultra-credible source only "scoops" information that any fan of the show already knows. And why wouldn't he say damn near anything? There's nobody to tell him he's wrong because he basically doesn't exist.

I just listened to Monday's show... and Fez didn't sound all THAT different to me. There were long long passages of him not talking at all. There were long stretches where Ron sounded exhausted and Fez didn't pick up that slack. Ron was coughing and Fez didn't fill. Other than talking about the actual announcement.... Fez wasn't really a participant in the show.
If this is DAY ONE of "the all new Fez", then it's safe to assume that Fez will be catatonic in the very near future.

Fez himself was pretending to be cured, dude.
For the one hour after the announcement, he was presenting himself as a new person. You're right... it wasn't overnight. IT WAS IMMEDIATE.

Nobody was a bigger Fez fan that I was. Nobody defended him more than I used to. But.. Fez has changed. How much? Well... so much that Ron had to give Fez an ultimatum. Shape up or ship out, so... Fez pretended to shape up. His coming out was dishonest... .and in quiet moments... I'm sure he knows that. His secret was not a secret to anybody. Literally not one person thought/assumed Fez was straight. He lied about it for yeeeears, and only "came out" when he was basically forced to.

I haven't bashed Fez at all. In fact.... quite the opposite. I'm a FAN of his. I want MORE of him. I thought he was funny... and I liked what he brought to the show. I loved him as a foil for Ron. I'm only upset that he's slowing the show down by offering NOTHING.

For the one hour after the announcement, he was presenting himself as a new person. You're right... it wasn't overnight. IT WAS IMMEDIATE.

Nobody was a bigger Fez fan that I was. Nobody defended him more than I used to. But.. Fez has changed. How much? Well... so much that Ron had to give Fez an ultimatum. Shape up or ship out, so... Fez pretended to shape up. His coming out was dishonest... .and in quiet moments... I'm sure he knows that. His secret was not a secret to anybody. Literally not one person thought/assumed Fez was straight. He lied about it for yeeeears, and only "came out" when he was basically forced to.

I haven't bashed Fez at all. In fact.... quite the opposite. I'm a FAN of his. I want MORE of him. I thought he was funny... and I liked what he brought to the show. I loved him as a foil for Ron. I'm only upset that he's slowing the show down by offering NOTHING.

second, i find it pathetic that radio show hosts that literally tear others apart on a daily basis in all forms of media and entertainment can't take the pros and cons of any blog, board or site dedicated to a show. the overall theme here is complete support with constructive critques. in the past ron and crew loved both and had fun with the clearly over the top haters with nothing appropriate to add good or bad, and gave love to the support and family that was formed here. to me, they got too fucking touchy and lost contact with the new flow of people and hid themselves in the corner with a few ANNOYING people that did nothing but yes them to death already in close wanting to stay there. not a real exchange and it's garbage. i have a ton of respect for the few who have actual opinions that don't simply line up and remain close to the show, but the bulk just follow the alpha dog's lead and the impact on the show can be felt daily. the grass roots fan involvement took a major hit when they first left nyc for obvious reasons...but it continued in other ways for a long time now and they ended up abandoning some true fans like a kid taking their ball home after the other team didn't let them win bc they didn't just kiss the ring at every turn.

The show has a conversational feel to it and when they "interacted" with this board, it felt like I was in some way part of the conversation...I miss that element, but not enough to start twitter

as for an actual timeline, I can't really say I have an exact date but it was a few years back after a few "guests" and or "XM people" were reportedly upset about things being said here that didn't fully back what they were promoting and shit like this being brought up on the show

my guess is most of it was complete bullshit too, and more likely the work of fanboys (fangirls) who started here and got close to the show and got flamed here and there and hated it...complained and got the show involved angry with it all

it's all some thin skin tripe if you ask me...especially for a comedy show who takes liberties with (as I stated earlier) entertainment and media figures on a daily basis, not to mention many of it's not so normal fans in the past as well.

When did twitter start? Like 2008? Sometime around then, I guess.

We were still hanging on while Dave was doing "Board Gossip" on the show.

Then FezFez joined the site, and started posting new threads and questions to the board. Most of which, I don't remember him ever coming back and replying to. There wasn't much interaction from what I remember. Just, every now and then you'd see that FezFez had started a new thread, and most people were polite in their responses, but I really don't ever remember seeing him coming back into those threads to answer questions, or interact.

Then, yeah, I started hearing how awful we were from Dave and Fez, and thinking, What the fuck?!? Who said what? When?

It seemed like they'd associate any flame from any board with this one, whether it happened here or not. And there seemed to be a bunch of spin-off boards back then. Hell, I'm pretty sure Dave and Casey started one of them, or were at least moderators. FBA? FTB? FTBAFBA? Some shit like that.

And, yeah, it seemed like a kick in the teeth from Dave. And with Dave being the eyes and ears of the show on monitoring the boards, whatever he said formed/affected Ron's opinion, so when Dave started in on us, we were doomed.

This was also when they would sit and watch / read paltalk all through the show, and the after shows, and associating with those folks. That's when we got a full dose of HTG, crazed, etc. And as HTG went, so went the show. She was still a member on here too, but as she bounced around and started to move on, so did they.

Shortly after FezFez we got JayJay (Jay Mohr), and when a few people made some inappropriate comments about his wife, he left too.

"Board gossip" stopped being funny, and there was just too much drama between boards. Most of which I didn't relate to, as this was the only place I posted/read.

I think when they did the stupid "unity show", and they basically seemed to be asking Ron and the show to moderate some fabricated "sit down", they were realizing that they needed to separate themselves from this crap.

That was pretty much the end.

What's funny to me is that with twitter, and now the comment section of the ibang, they're basically actively viewing and reading on air a "listening thread"... which they've always condemned. Really, what's the difference?

Other than, I'm sure they ibang folks are actively deleting any negative comments for them, so it's probably "safer" over there.

A big part of what got me hooked on listening to this show was the old callers. And when I started realizing that some of these were "buddays" of the show who they met through this board, I joined so I could lurk and read more. I started recognizing callers names/handles, and people who regularly got read on the old "instant feedback". All the best seemed to have come from this site, and there was as much hilarity on here back then as there was on the show.

And this site deserves a lot of credit for keeping up with the show during the moves and transitions. Fucking people were transcribing shows and posting recaps immediately. Serious committment type stuff, along with the underground feeds and posting audio clips.

Which is why it hurt when the show turned their back on this place over such trivial shit. But, whatever. That was years ago. They've moved on, and I've adapted. I have a twitter acct, again, for lurking purposes, but I've never "tweeted". I've been to the iBang, but don't see myself becoming a regular "commentor" there, or whatever they call themselves.

Whatever it is, it will never become a "community", or, hell I'll say it, a "family" like they used to have here, and I guess they're ok with that now.
