I agree it looks good, and doesn't seem as formulaically Wes Anderson as the last few movies, but is still obviously a Wes Anderson movie.

Thoughts. 1: I'm not psyched that this was cowritten by Roman Coppola.
2: Bruce Willis!
3: I'm kindof done with Bill Murray, I think he needs to reinvent himself on the comedy tip again.
4: Will people say this is Anderson's 400 Blows?
5: This is more general, but I'm kindof tired of the really inorganic way writers are stapling their adult personas onto children, so the child protagonist is really this 27 year old with an MFA having a rebellion fantasy that he actually didn't conjure up until his own 20s. People have made successful adult movies about children (that sounds bad) where the children arent actually adults just being played by children. I dont know if that's whats going on here, if it is it probably wont ruin the movie for me, but alas that's just what I'm saying to the art world in general. Kids are kids, have the balls to put them in the context of a child and understand them as adults. I think the actual seperation between childhood and adulthood is too scary for people who are doing this, because if kids act like kids then they have to act like adults.

This doesn't seem shitty enough to be a Furtherman pick.

And my last shitty pick was?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Syfy show will be atrocious.

Oh. Well, once it's shown as to be shitty, then you may proceed to label such pick as shitty.

Does anyone have a good source where I could watch Moonrise Kingdom online? I'm laid up with a bum back and can't make it to the theater. I saw it before I wretched my back and have been jonesing to see it again. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks buddies.

To review my thoughts 1: Eh, he wasn't disruptive.
2: Kindof inconsequential
3: Yeah, kindof inconsequential although balls on Wes Anderson for just straight up porting the same character from Tanenbaums. Which seeing this makes you realize how much of that he gets away with.
4: probably
5: Pretty right on. Bunch of little child body avatars. It gets a little creepy because the girl is the girl that Wes Anderson is attracted to (essentially Margot Tanenbaum as a child) and shes both intellectually and physically optimized for Wes Anderson boners (heavy eye makeup, fits of anger, french records, birds) but you've poured this adult into a childs body. So you're either infantilizing the chick you want to bang, or sexualizing your child character. It's fucking creepy, Wes.

But it does churn a lot of humor about that child's concept of the world, atleast it's played for absurdity, and it is a fantasy. I guess he gets half credit. Because when we see the scouts walking with these insane weapons we're supposed to laugh and go 'oh man, kids are so crazy, they dont know what the hell they're doing' but when the two protagonists feel a deep understanding and cathartic love for eachother we're not supposed to go 'oh man, kids are so crazy, they dont know what the hell they're doing.'

I remember there was a conversation on the show about if the movie was optomistic. I dont think you can call it optomistic, I think you can call it naive.

I enjoyed the use of Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.

I was hoping someone would help here because I really didn't think that it was ever going to come to b.f.e.bama... but I just looked again, and it's finally playing here.

Going tomorrow.

I was kind of surprised it was playing in a small theater the town over from me. The only place in my county that was showing it.
