I dont know how Republicans bring up the deficit like it just showed up in the last 4 years.

they bring it up because they are counting on the "short memories" of the populace. afterall, the 2 wars were never on the budget until the start of obama's term, when the adminstration put it on the books. idk if anyone remembers, the wars were funded with a lot of emergency bills, etc.

The head was discovered by dog walkers in Bronson Canyon on Tuesday afternoon, Los Angeles police said.

"One of the dogs ran into the brush and came out carrying a plastic grocery bag. As the dogs shook the plastic grocery bag the severed human head fell out of the bag and onto the ground." said Cmdr. Andrew Smith.

{Shudder}. Makes me glad I can just take my dog out in the yard.

The cut offs are all thats worn during the warm months cause I keep my house heat on 62 during winter and need the long pants.

There's a tiny place in my hometown of Paducah, KY that makes the BEST doughnuts in the world. It's in a really bad part of town, and doesn't even have a sign. I had to call my Mom to help me remember how to spell the name, and she had to think about it too. It's called "Munal's" and they have an amazing strawberry cream cheese doughnut that made me almost faint on the way to the car. But like Ron said, you can't eat there very often cause they're too good.

Crazy world - I had to terminate 2 employees today for lack of work - and also am scrambling to get a bunch hired. Sad that the 2 that had to go couldnt work in one of the many open positions we have.

Way of the world - manual data auditors that couldnt grasp the concept of using software to do their job. They both had been here over 18 years and are over 60.

Sometimes, they couldnt pay me enough to do this job - other times, a can of corn...

The way people fight change is crazy. I started in my current job like a month before they did a major overhaul on the workflow, when I came in I recognized how ass backwards it was and how antithetical to any kind of efficiency. The system they put in was 100 times better, and it immediately fixed a bunch of the chronic problem the department had. But people fought it like they were getting their teeth drilled, and continued to shit talk it months after it had fixed everything.

that stinks.

was it purely a work issue or is it one of those things where a new hire would be cheaper?

totally the company phasing out that department - the amount of workload that the others that use the software can do is like 6 times more than these manual auditors. We have given them 2 years or so to get on board (it started out that there was 12 in that dept and the other 9, (one died) were able to transition over to the new technology). We will not be replacing their job - just forcing more work on the others. We have to hire a bunch in other areas.

i hate that. i know that im doing the work of at least 3 people. none of my work is ever totally done. im always shifting projects and juggling work around. i manage to stay a week ahead (barely). I hate that - here each department figures their yearly budget but when they let people go throughout the year they dont want to hire back someone. And then use that income not spent to cover their already overbudget expenses - and pass along more work to those still here. Until it gets to a point and they have to hire another. Its just a vicious cycle here and I always try to battle it...

Excellent point. What's less entertaining:

1. Tarantino soundtrack tunes on their own, heard outside of one of his flicks.
OR
2. A Tarantino movie with not-so-carefully selected music; you must have a good imagination to conceptualize this alternative.
