Just another way to generate revenue. What about diabetics who carry candy for their blood sugar levels?

Our politicians just wanting to get ther names in the media. If anything just raise the fine on littering

Always assumed it was illegal. I've seen a woman eating a giant fish head on the train. It's a good law.

I have no problem with this. Trains are disgusting and anyone who eats on them are animals. Why would you want to put something in your mouth in a dirty environment like that? Plus most of the slobs that eat on the train dont clean up after themselves. If your a diabetic then you need to take care of yourself. Eat before you get on the train and if your running late so be it. Im sure if you explained this to whoever they wouldnt mind if your reason for being late was you needed to eat something because you felt weak from diabetes.

I know some of you hate the govt being involved and telling us what to do while taking away freedoms but these laws are made because without them people obviously dont make the right choices or decisions and it creates the mess that is the NYC subway system. No other city has trains and stations as disgusting as NYC. Partially because how populated and the amount of trains we have but if people would be cleaner we wouldnt have the rats and mess we have.

shut up loser. They arent gonna ban food at a place (the airport) where they built in places to eat. stop tryin to act like every little thing the government does is wronging people. People shouldnt be allowed to eat on the train, its fuckin disgusting.

And grab at little straws like diabetics, who im sure would still be allowed to eat their candy if the 1 in 1 million chance they went into diabetic fits on the fuckin train came to pass.

Also, why the fuck would you wanna eat in those places? they are filthy.

Insults aside, this is also true given that many airlines no longer offer a meal on certain flights so you're forced to buy food and eat it there or bring it on the plane.

Since you mentioned airports, It started with taking off shoes, then banning liquids, now getting felt up or going thru a scanner because like a bunch of pussies this country overreacts to everything. Hell they might want to ban food in the boarding area. Im sure one of your overlords in gov't are thinking of that.

Look what happened with seatbelts, Now its no driving and talking on the phone, they are going further and want a law including bluetooths.

No Smoking started with work, now its 20 feet away from the building lobby, banned in beaches bars, parks and even times square.

right, and none of those laws has ANYTHING to do with this. You are acting like its somehow your property to say you should eat. Maybe the people (you know, the ones you say are always gettin screwed) went to their representatives to complain that filthy animals like you were always eating on the train and it was disgusting.

as for your awful airport analogy. they banned people from bringing that onto the plane. Not having them in the airport. im sorry, should we just let any one bring everything they want on a plane? Lets just have 4 psychos every flight who decide to fight each other with the samurai swords they brought in their carry ons.

The food is your property as you purchased it. This all started when people were banned from drinking coffee att he stations and on trains.

I already said make the fine for littering more harsh. NYC Stations are loaded with cops already. They'd be able to spot littering.

Im not eating a 4 course dinner on the subways, the only time I use them is when I'm going to happy hour, and that only happens when Im going downtown. Someone can get a $250 fine for a fucking candy bar? Thats outrageous

Who said anything about bringing swords or weapons on a plane, Banning a water bottle or shaving cream in carry on bag is a bit too far. Theres a terrorist attack and lets just start a new bureaucracy with a budget in the tens of billions to inconvenience everybody.

This isnt the 1970's the cleanliness of subways especially in the cars themselves has improved big time.

But why must those items be checked with luggage? Because we are a nation of overreactive pussies who must use draconian measures to pretend that its for safety.

Ive flown a lot since 9/11 and those measures don't make me feel any more safe. Its just a huge hassle.

how is it a hassle to put shit in a different bag. All that stuff is done before you even leave for the airport. what did it add, 30 seconds of figuring out which bag to put stuff in?

And as for your answer, no, thats actually NOT why they changed shit. they changed shit for the same reason most citizens wish certain things were different. The workers are lazy and just want the way to make the job as easy as possible. its not to flex power and show they can do it. its so they dont have to actually hire real security to check every little thing they let on the plane.

You are too short sighted to realize the way they do it actually makes it faster. Would you rather everyone just put that shit in their checked bags, or would you rather wait in nfor 6 hours to get on the plane while security checks out every potentially dangerous thing before letting it on the plane in a carry on? Do you not realize that it would be so much worse doing it your way?

Obviously you dont realize anything that makes sense

This is about RATS, not trash.

I worked pest control for a year or so in the early 90's.

You want to keep Rats out of a particular area? You have to eliminate any reason for them to go into that place.

Rats are obviously out scouting for food, but also water, and sometimes just for nesting material, or shelter.

The big problem here appears to be their coming into the stations and up onto the platforms in search of food.

If you don't allow people to bring in food, then there's no food waste to attract rodents.

Yea and theres how much liquid a container holds. So if you accidentally put something a tad over the limit, now youre going to have to get your bag that you already checked and put it in there. Also checked baggage can sometimes get lost. You have complete control over your carry on.

They started the TSA as an overreaction. So what you have now is dozens of cases of cancer patients, people with colon bags etc getting their 4th amendment rights violated.

But its that slippery slope, If something happens on NJ Transit or LIRR like what happened in Madrid there are going to be scanners, etc at Penn Station, We overreact to everything. Other countries arent as pussified as we are.

A tragedy just makes these hack politicians just spend money and throw cash at everything.

how bout you address the point i just made. You quoted my whole post and didnt address anything i said.

as for the bold part. NO. If you are carrying a bottle with liquid onto the plane that isnt a drink you just bought in the airport, PUT IT IN YOUR CHECKED BAG AT HOME BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

The real issue seems to be that you are too dumb to put things in the right bag, and so you end up holding up everyone else at the airport moving things around instead of just putting them in your checked back AT YOUR HOUSE.

You are the reason things take too long now. You are complaining about yourself

Im addressing the point that its idiotic, a waste of time and money to have all these draconian measures in place. You think Im advocating for someone to bring a can of gasoline on a plane. The limit of liquids is 3.4 fl oz. Now something that is 4 or even 5 fl oz is the difference of life and death?

Plus there hasnt been an incident like what happened over the Atlantic in nearly 6 years. They are doing away with that stupid color coded alert shit, they can do away with this.

things take too long mostly cause people are too stupid to pack shit properly. And hey, maybe there hasnt been any incidents because they are being extra careful? i love that you assume cause nothing has happened, that nothing would have happened if we didnt watch out for it. and if they are such awful measures, why didnt it get stopped? People made enough noise to shelve the SOPA thing, so maybe if people woulda stepped up and not let this shit get passed, you wouldnt have the problem.

Regardless, the rules are the rules. You know what they are when you go fly, and yet you still continue to imporperly pack your bag and complain about it. at this point, its on you.

Regardless, the "draconian" measure of stopping people from eating in the filthy subways is a good law. How bout you realize that although you think you are so important you should be allowed to eat, 100 people think you are a filthy animal and shouldnt. thats the way it works. Everyone else is more important than just you

Things take too long because the federal government made a huge overreaction to a tragic event. There are smarter ways to have safety checks in place. Going by your criteria should we just check every Arab man btwn the ges of 20-40 ?

SOPA was a national bill. People in NYC are coddled from birth believing that everything must be taken care of and monitored by the cops and government people can't police themselves

A filthy animal is someone who eats a combo McDonalds meal and throws it on the tracks or leaves it in the subway car. Its not someone who has a bag of M&M's and tosses it in the shitcan after he's done, but to you he should pay a $250 fine. Unreal!!!!

this makes me laugh too. Its NYC, how many laws do they actually police to the letter of the law on minor shit like this? They prob wont even bother people eating candy. Just like how they dont really bother people drinkin who put the bottle in a paper bag.

I live in Mahwah, NJ. The town itself is bigger than manhattan in area and has like 30K people in it. if i smoked a blunt walking down the street, someone would call the cops, someone would come arrest me. But in the city, i do that shit ALL the time. No one cares. 1 time ever a cop stopped me doing it. he threw it in the sewer (maybe, i think he kept it for himself) and told me to get the fuck outta there. I do? How? Theyre the ones who cant wait to start a war with Iran. They can't wait for a President Newt or Mitt. They are for bigger gov't only for their needs. Hannity wants to cut food stamps but don't you dare cut the military budget. Did you watch real time this past Friday, there was a GOP Congressman who was bitching that the military budget was going to be cut when in fact its not getting cut. Obama just wants to limit the increases in spending.

The Airports and major train stations already have dozens of NYC Cops. I think the airports even have the Port Authority police patrolling. Men in camo and body armor arent needed. I feel safe enough with a well trained police force.

dude are you serious? have you seen whats happening to mexico? have you seen what these dudes are doing to FEDERAL agents? I know my point was just to be a counter and show you dont know everything, not really that i think the national guard is there for drug busts. But seriously, if there actually was major drug trafficking going on, yea, im pretty sure you WOULD need camo and body armor. You feel safe enough with a well trained police force? well guess what, YOU DONT HAVE ONE. Most cities police forces arent exactly well trained. they dont have time and money for that. Im not sayin they are bad, but the good ones are good cause they already were made to do that. its not cause they were better trained than some other place.

And even if you had the BEST trained police force of any city, fuckin federal governments cant even stop these guys. You are so fuckin clueless its insane

The Federales and cops have been infiltrated by the cartels. The cartels are having their members join the Mexican military and going into their special forces. Thats not happening here.

Most other cities dont have the target that NYC and LA have either. NYC and LA have a bigger chance of being attacked again than Billings Montana.

Most of the Hannity callers and that group want the TSA and want a bigger military and are just sharpening their swords for the next war and think God is on their side.

The talkshow hosts cant wait to have a President Romney. Even though Ron Paul is out. Im voting for the libertarian Gary Johnson

I cant make it more clearer but you are not getting it. Logic and reason is not being over reactive and not having over the top draconian practices.

Bullshit.

The poor sumbitch who is in office when/if there is another attack will get crucified for not doing enough to prevent it.

They fucking know it, so whatever party is in office is going to feel pressured to keep implementing more and more safety measures to make damn sure that NOTHING happens under their watch.

What would you do if this was YOUR job?

If Wrestlingfan was given a LOFTY position, a huge salary, a huge budget, and you were told that your ONE job was to ensure that there were ZERO terrorist attacks on US soil. Ever.

And if there was one, just ONE fucking successful attack, no matter how small, not only would you lose your job, but you would be publicly humiliated.

Basically, if you had the power to change/relax the current security measures, but also bear the responsibility for any outcome... would you do it?

Would you take the risk? Knowing that kids would forever learn about Wrestlingfan in their history books as the guy who changed the laws that allowed this terrible shit happen to them?

Would you stand at a podium and explain why you did it, to the survivors and the families of the deceased, and remind them how many years we enjoyed before something happened? That they should appreciate the gift of easier, hassle free travel you created for them, and how many tax dollars you saved?

I just don't think you realize the political pressure that these guys are under.

YES, it's a fucking hassle. I used to walk onto an aircraft with a tackle box full of sharp tools on my way to contract jobs. It's fucking slow, and now I'm paying to check a bag just because I need shit that I can't carry on anymore.

But like Snoogans said, if there's been no major, successful attacks while these safety measures have been in place... then it's presumed that this is WHY nothing has happened. And once they're in place, no one is going to be the dumb sonofabitch who changed or relaxed the policies and risk THAT being the reason something got through.

And getting back on topic... my guess in this case is that someone was charged with getting the rat population under control.

If that's my job, and MY ass if another rat scurries across some diplomat's shoe while touring our subway system... yep, step one, remove the rats source of food down there.

No exceptions. Eat your fish head somewhere else, or pay the fucking fine.

I throw a skittles bag into a pit full of hungry rats. The first time they start fighting over the wrapper because it smells like something they could eat... BOOM, no more fucking skittles down there too, and tell my officers to fucking enforce it, or it's their ass.

And it goes from there until the problem is solved.

These politicans are taking campaign money from security lobbyists. Former DHS Sec Chertoffs company makes the scanners, Theres a smart way to provide security and theres whats done now where it expands the federal government and creates new agencies when theres an emergency.

The president is to protect and defend the constitution, and carry out his duties under article 2. Both parties are guilty of trying to run an overreaching federal gov't.

Politicians are only worried about keeping their job and not adhering to their duties.

What is even more bothersome is that Richard Reid was not even caught in the US.

I would call for streamlining security, closing/consolidating agencies and make it more efficient. Throwing money at a crisis is what politicians like to do and both fucking parties are guilty

You don't think rats can get into the trash receptacles?

How many more people are you going to hire to haul off the trash every hour, to remove the half eaten bagels, skittles wrappers, and fish head remnants?

How many times a day are you going to sweep and mop the trains, platforms and stations to remove what's dropped and spilled onto the floors?

It seems like you're on here defending the "right to eat" for the rats.

Rats are going to be in the subway regardless. Ever see the puddles on the tracks even when theres no rain? You see those stickers that pesticides have been sprayed but Ive seen rats as huge as cats especially on the C line

Is there a rat problem in the parks?

Or are you trying to say that they'll continue to live in the subway, and go to the parks to forage for food?

I have no idea what the parks have to do with a rat problem in the subways.

They spray pesticides into standing water to control mosquitos and insects, not rats.

Not as bad as the subways, However don't rats seek warmth and water along with food? The subways have a supply of water for them.

In regards to the law, why is this a state issue? This is something that should be passed by the city council
