For the last several months I have posted a weekly thread on what DVD/Blu-rays are being released for the upcoming week for another web site. I always post it on Mondays, typically the day before new releases are put on the store shelves. Sometimes I add my own comments to each release, but mostly it's just to let you know what's newly available.
I figured I'd post it here as well and if it's well received like it is at the other site, then I'll continue posting it.
This isn't every new release, just a highlight of what's coming out. If I missed anything, be sure to post here and share.
Feedback is always appreciated.

Michelle Williams was amazing as Marilyn Monroe. I actually dug this one a lot.

The Last Temptation of Christ (The Criterion Collection) (1988)
dir. Martin Scorsese
Product Description:
The Last Temptation of Christ, by Martin Scorsese (Raging Bull), is a towering achievement. Though it initially engendered enormous controversy, the film can now be viewed as the remarkable, profoundly personal work of faith that it is. The Killing: The Complete First Season (2011)
With AMC’s success of shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, this show had a lot of hype and anticipation. After a few episodes of dragging this slow moving murder case, this show had so much hatred, probably the most I ever remember reading about. No one could defend the direction of this show, and soon, everyone had extreme animosity toward the shows creator, Veena Sud.
I stuck with the show, and like an asshole, I’ll watch season 2 when that starts next month. I’m actually surprised there’s going to be a second season.
Product Description:
Following a shocking murder, the lives of the police, suspects and victim's family are intricately woven together in this "spellbinding" (TV Guide) series starring Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, This engrossing series has earned huge acclaim, as well as a Golden Globe® nomination and multiple Emmy® nominations in its first season!

Bag of Bones (2011)
I remember hearing about this before it came out. It aired as a mini-series on A&E. It looked somewhat interesting, but was quickly forgotten since I have never watched A&E, well, at least not in this millennium. I do vaguely remember a stand-up comedy show on there that I use to watch, but that was probably 15-20 years ago.
Product Description:
Based on the award-winning bestselling novel by Stephen King, Bag of Bones is an unforgettable psychological thriller. Two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day) stars as Mike Noonan, a novelist who suffers from writer's block after the death of his wife, Jo (Annabeth Gish, Pretty Little Liars). A dream inspires him to return to the couple's lakeside retreat hoping to find answers about his wife's sudden death, but he is plagued by ever-escalating nightmares and mysterious ghostly visitations from Sara Tidwell (Anika Noni Rose, Dreamgirls), a blues singer whose spirit lingers in the house. As the inhabitants of Dark Score Lake haunt him, Mike comes to realize that his late wife still has something to tell him. Jason Priestly (Beverly Hills, 90210), Melissa George (30 Days of Night) and William Schallert, (True Blood) also star in this haunting thriller.

Triad Trilogy: Election, Triad Election, Triad Underworld (2005, 2006, 2004)
dirs. Johnnie To, Ching-Po Wong
I’ve seen the first 2, never knew there was a 3rd. Upon further reading, this is a misleading collection. Yes, you’re getting 3 triad films, but the 3rd one, which is actually the oldest, has nothing to do with the Election films. I guess Triad Twofer isn’t a marketable term.
Product Description:
These films, in the spirit of the "Infernal Affairs Trilogy" which inspired "The Departed", are to Hong Kong triad cinema what "The Godfather II" and "Goodfellas" are to US mob cinema. The collection features "Election", "Triad Election" and "Triad Underworld".

Coonskin (1975)
dir. Ralph Bakshi
Product Description:
Coonskin is a 1975 American animated film written and directed by Ralph Bakshi, about an African American rabbit, fox, and bear who rise to the top of the organized crime racket in Harlem, encountering corrupt law enforcement, con artists and the Mafia. The film, which combines live-action with animation, stars Philip Thomas, Charles Gordone, Barry White and Scatman Crothers, all of whom appear in both live-action and animated sequences. Coonskin utilizes a number of references to various elements from African American culture, ranging from African folk tales to the work of cartoonist George Herriman, and satirizes racist and other stereotypes, as well as the blaxploitation genre, Song of the South, and The Godfather.
Originally produced under the titles Harlem Nights and Coonskin No More..., Coonskin encountered extreme controversy before its original theatrical release when the Congress of Racial Equality strongly criticized the content as being racist, although none of the group's members had seen the film. When the film was finally released, Bryanston gave it limited distribution and initially received negative reviews. Later re-released under the titles Bustin' Out and Street Fight, Coonskin has since been reappraised, with many considering it to be one of Bakshi's finest works.

The Burning Moon (1997)
dir. Olaf Ittenbach
Product Description:
In 1997, writer/director/special effects master Olaf Ittenbach changed the face of video horror, force-fed its ripped-out eyeballs to screaming audiences, then used a drill, machete and shotgun on its still-twitching torso: Ittenbach himself stars as a degenerate junkie who babysits his young sister with two bedtime stories of the damned. First, an escaped serial killer turns date night into a graphic family massacre. Then a country priest on a rape and murder spree leads to a disturbingly explicit descent into Hell. It became the VHS that shocked America. It has been banned in its Motherland for nearly 20 years. And it remains perhaps the most violent and depraved shot-on-video saga in history. This is "The Burning Moon".

Killer’s Moon (1970)
dir. Alan Birkinshaw
Product Description:
An important film in the evolution of "video nasties" (especially violent films that brought about stricter censorship in the UK in the early 1980s), "Killer's Moon" sets a quartet of drug-addled psychopaths against a group of vacationing schoolgirls. Four mental patients undergo an experimental drug therapy, and then escape into the countryside. Believing they are inside a dream, they lose any remaining shreds of morality. Roaming the woods, they stumble upon a manor of schoolgirls and wreak unholy havoc. Dressed all in white, like the droogs of "A Clockwork Orange", these terrifying sleepwalkers unleash their violent ids with insane abandon. When two nearby campers attempt to stop the slaughter, the killers begin to awake from their slumber - and to their deeds.

Product Description:
Capitalizing on the pop cultural fascination with the occult, while taking advantage of the era's relaxed censorship, "Virgin Witch" was one of the more notorious British horror films of the early seventies. Only then do they realize that the agency is a means of procuring fresh victims for a witch's coven. Sybil's plan goes awry when she discovers that one of the virginal sisters is hardly an innocent victim - but is gifted with deadly supernatural powers.

My Joy (2011)
dir. Sergei Loznitsa
Product Description:
The first fiction film by acclaimed documentarian Sergei Loznitsa, "My Joy" is a haunting parable of post-Communist Russia, shot by master cinematographer Oleg Mutu ("4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days"). Truck driver Georgy (Viktor Nemets) sets out on a provincial Russian highway for a routine delivery, but after a series of chance encounters his journey spirals out of control. A roadside police check, a talkative war veteran, and a too-young prostitute lead him to a village from which there appears to be no way out - where the locals struggle to survive a tough, elemental world, and the past holds a vise-like grip over their everyday lives. Caught in a merciless dead end, Georgy's unexpected fate is the crux of Loznitsa's unique and original feature debut. Based on true stories the director encountered during his decade-long pilgrimage by road through Russia, "My Joy" is a terrifying look into the abyss from an arresting new voice in feature filmmaking.

British Agent (1934)
dir. Michael Curtiz
Product Description:
Michael Curtiz directs Kay Francis and Leslie Howard in this tale of romance and revolution in Russia. Touted at the time of its release as most expensive picture yet produced by the studio, Curtiz does not allow the sweep and spectacle to overwhelm the very human drama that lies at the heart of the film. It is 1917 and the Russian Revolution is sweeping the country. Elena (Francis) has dedicated her life to the Cause as personified by Lenin. But during a street riot her life is saved by Stephen Locke (Howard), an unofficial diplomatic agent for England. The two, although dedicated to opposing causes, fall for each other. But Elena learns that Locke is wanted by the secret police for his revolutionary activities and she is ordered to obtain evidence of Locke's scheming. She does so--although she knows this will condemn him to death. One of Kay Francis' greatest performances in film, aided by a string of character greats.

Sybil's plan goes awry when she discovers that one of the virginal sisters is hardly an innocent victim - but is gifted with deadly supernatural powers.
