heh.. so one of the other secretaries that i cover for went out last night to the casino with my mom. my mom crawled home at about 2 this morning.

the secretary called out today and asked for me to cover her clinic while telling a story about being sick or something. i dont like covering this clinic because its a TON of work that would have to be done on top of my normal shit.

then this morning, the doctor (whose clininc i was supposed to cover today) called out saying she had a family emergency and could come in. so i had to move everything to the 2 clinic next week. ha ha! the secretary called out becuase she wanted me to do her work while she slept off her hangover, but now she's double booked for all of next week.

Haa haa. Unless you have medical issues, your body can handle it.

I think it is funny how my mother and my brother's wife laugh at these women who complain about labor pain. The longest delivery either of them had was four hours. They described it as like a dull pain in the abdomen.

Yeah they tried to push my friend into a lot of places she didn't want to go. She was able to find a place that would let her go VBAC but unfortunately her pregnancies were all very difficult so they had to c section anyway.

My other friend did home birth and nearly had to trade up for c section which would've devastated her.

As a Chicago Bears fan, I would rather have had a guy like Kyle Orton as backup for Jay Cutler last year than to have those inexperienced backups they actually had on the roster.

* - Lovie could've EASILY put his backup QBs in any of the games where Cutler was working with a strong lead. This is one of the reasons Chicago hates Lovie. He scrapes by where better coaches would have performed much better.

Who knows? The Japanese novel-cum-movie "Battle Royale" is a bitter, dark satire about something that most American kids couldn't identify with. I think the "Hunger Games" apparent lack of direction is related to the fact that point of "Battle Royale" is not clearly understood in the west.

I dont know if Hunger Games lacks subtext, I haven't read them or seen the movie. I also think judging the whole series from a single movie is maybe not a great idea.

I took Battle Royale to be about the pressure put on the kids to conform and perform. I dont know though, but I like watching movies made outside of my own cultural tradition (I dont just shit on the new york centric), about shit I dont necissarily understand. I read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" after people begging me to read it. I though it was okay, but I really felt like J.K. Rowling was crafting the books from the logo to Quidditch to be a marketing machine.

I had more of an issue with her retconning everything. Like you wrote the book, that's cool, but then I think she sells the legend of how it was written and how planned everything was, how all the characters have extensive biographies, that's marketing to me because I didn't see any evidence of it in the book.

Another big issue with Rowling is acting like the world of HP exists outside of the books. I object to this from a literary standpoint, the world of the book only exists between the text and the reader, you cant control it afterwards. So you cant say "Dumbledore was gay" unless you put it in the book, because Dumbledore only exists between the reader and the text, and the truth is if you want me to read Dumbledore as gay then you're sending the message that gay love is a corrupting influence. Now is Dumbledore really gay and was seduced to evil by his gay crush, or are you just driving your agenda in a somewhat thoughtless manner after it minimalizes the financial risk for you?

whatever the fuck Suicide Club is about.
Suicide Club is a story that was made to lampoon the way Japanese people conform cultural trends. It pretty much sucks, but I understand it. Japanese people have this tendency to buy products because their favorite celebrities have them. The most annoying from my personal experience was when one of the pitchers on the winning team of the high school baseball championship had this "good luck handkerchief" that EVERY kid on my school's baseball team bought in spite the fact that the product was massively expensive.

An unnecessarily snarky person may make the leap that if that pitcher had hung himself with a telephone cord that there would be a massive increase in suicides by hanging across Japan.

"Battle Royale" is a satire of school, period.

Hands, Don and Fred are the current dedicated interns.

I feel that having nuclear weapons is not a right for every country. The world depends on Nato and some others to make sure that these global killers dont get in the wrong hands. They may argue that some wrong hands have them now but Iran is going about it wrong. If they really just wanted nuclear power they could have let the nuclear commission control building and maintaining powerplants if rightfully so. Not being so fucking standoffish and inticing Isreal in the process.

If Isreal nuked Palestine (even if provoked), I guarantee that nobody will stick up for them.

The US's fire bombing of Tokyo killed far more people than the nukes did. If they had fire bombed Hiroshima, Kokura, and Nagasaki they would have surrendered. The US was trying to show the Russians that they were ready to fight.

Imagine if the US dropped the atomic bomb on Germany. I guarantee our international ties to Europe would still be damaged.

I have to admit that I found it annoying that Ron was not understanding the caller's point that from Iran's perspective it is rational, for them, to request nukes when a lot of their neighbors (enemies) have nukes. I don't even think that the caller was saying, "Iran should have nukes." He was saying, "If the neighbors that you fear the most have weapons, you had better get some for yourself."
