I always roll my eyes when some old crustbucket rockstar says how it is hard to find good music today. There is more music being made by more people than ever, and somehow there is less good music being made? Is it because the power to make music is in the hands of the common man? Does this offend your elitist rock royalty world view? Shut up, you made music you're not that special.

Ron Wood said how good music is hard to find and good bands are few and far between. I think it has a lot to do with seeing who occupies the top of the big music house of cards today. You are looking at Justin Timberlake etc sitting in your old throne. Your whole adult life was based on huge financial success of your music facilitated by the corporate music machine, so anything that exists outside of it is not on the same level.

You dont have to like anything because taste is totally subjective and always should be, but if you're at a point in your life where you've basically said 'thats it, I will never hear something I like that I haven't already heard previously' then you dont like music, you like nostalgia. By new it doesn't even have to be contemporary, just the willingness and the desire to hear things you haven't previously heard.

I just don't find the average rock star's interview to be that interesting. Of course, Ronnie B hates popcorn movie people and comic books, but I think either demographic of entertainer would bring more interesting discussion about their creative process and just life in general.
I just don't care about hearing meaningless name drops of club names and "we checked into hotels as Fleetwood Mac" nonsense that have been mentioned ad nauseum.

As recently as the early 90s, the only way to listen to new music would be to go to the hole-in-the-wall music shops by the big city music venues. If you were willing to travel and invest some money in the vanity pressings these stores were selling, you could reasonable find the next big artists.
Today... you can go on the internet then scan music blogs and YouTube and find numerous quality bands.

I had to drive 30 minutes and buy used copies of CD's after looking through them for hours. Now, I can move my wrist a little then press two buttons and I have any music that I want.

My 90s involved my going to the music shop next to "The Metro" in Chicago or occasionally "Crows Nest" in Joliet (Which is now a used baby goods shop) and getting rare, bootleg, or other decent places. Goddammit I even miss Tower Records

Somewhat related to the Romney video. This is a documentary from the early 90s where the filmmaker makes a case for how the Bill Clinton campaign used the intercepting of satellite feeds to rebut George H.W. Bush's campaign videos on the same day during the 92 campaign (among other things). This guy just edits videos recorded from satellite feeds. Great stuff.

That analogy doesn't make any sense. Suspending Guillen protects the anti castro minority? Wouldn't the majority both locally and nationally be anti castro?
As a Chicago White Sox fan (who should have a bit of a chip on his shoulder about Ozzie), I don't see the problem with Ozzie Guillen saying that he respects Fidel Castro. His premise is that Castro was as disliked by the US as he was by the MLB establishment. I don't see an issue with it.

I give Chris Elliott all the credit in the world. The guy does an interview tour and still finds a way to say different things depending on where the interviewer takes him. Politicians, Tom Hanks, and most musicians just roll their schtick into a pattern.

Jim Norton made the same dumb point on twitter this morning as that caller; it's hypocritical that the Cubans are yelling about someone speaking their opinion, because of freedom of speech and not having it in Cuba.
But the Cubans yelling at Guillen are using their own freedom of speech by disagreeing with something someone in power said. It's just a dumb, simplistic argument.

9 times out of 10 he says something like "I like this the first time I heard it, when it was called The Faces." When he does go for something it has to be from Kathleen from the BX or soemthing like that. It's very measured and he has to own it. You never hear an 'oh wow' moment from Ron.

While working in Japan for Berlitz my next door neighbor was overcome by fumes from a neighbor mixing a suicide chemical potion. The woman according to the guy succeeded in killing herself and several other people in the building as well as sickening dozens.

Oh dude -
The father had killed himself a few years earlier and they had to sell their house etc and move into a trailer. There was mom, her, brother and granny that was fucked up from a stroke and had her legs amputated from knees down due to diabetes. The chick and mom had to share a bed (kings size waterbed) and many times I would stay there and wake up with her mom spooning me (she would sleep on the couch if I stayed over but would get drunk and on pills and forget and come top bed anyway). Older brother was living with a friend and was the biggest pill head ever. He showed up one night (it had been months since anyone had seen him) and turned the oven on to fix something to eat. In just a few minutes he open the door and grabbed the burner with both hands just to be able to get pills.

It was very intriguing on how Mt Fuji is actually a host mountain to Alien life forms and having them mentally control humans that get to close to the entrances and source of there power. They cause them to commit suicide to keep it a secret from the humans in power.
