Hi buddays, so here's my idea, as a weekly enstalment, or one time or whatever, over the course of the weekend, when you're imbibing, post a video or link of a really emotionally important song to you and say why. It doesn't matter why at all, but they have to be legit, and only post if you can post an emotionally pertinent reason. K. Go.

This reminds me sooo much of my hardcore punk days in the late 80s heading toward the 90s in the wild wild west .... of northeast pa. Emotionally it tears me up bc it's so awful.

Thanks Spoon, for making the things I thought I'd think when I'd wake up happen before I woke up...

YEah I wrote this then accidentally closed the tab, so anyway, when I first heard this my close friend was like, 'ew this is a christian song,' and I was like 'no, this is a song about a man who had a kid and now knows what love really means.' I don't know, I had more to say, but after I closed the tab and ... you get it, rock on.

No, it's both. He has become SUPER religious over the years, a FAR cry from his mental jewelry days...as is the same with his/Live's music.

IT SUCKSSSSSSS now!

not true, he always wrote songs with religious overtones, and Mental Jewelry is no exception. The fact is he was raised Catholic and the last 2 albums have lingered there, before that it was mostly eastern religions, try Lakini's Juice.

wrong

I'm from PA and all but grew up with these guys as my older uncles as my dad was an entertainment editor and they ended up being close. Bottom line is he and many in the band were raised christian true, just like myself, but they all not only doubted religion, they sang and wrote about it's divisive powers, how it's full of hypocrisy and he all but hated its power on people. It was always something Ed dabbled with and seemed fascinated by I'll give you that much, but he was HARDLY a christian, if anything he was anti-religion but honored great men which he often claimed Jesus and others were in said religion. In this song he even used to supplant Jesus with Buddah often in concert, among others that seemingly fit.

Listen closely.
