I think Ron is confusing idioms and movie lines. Horse Shoes and Hand grenades isn't supposed to be funny.
But anything with 'bitches' after it. It was funny on Chapelle Show before it was appropriated by every girl with a manicure.

The commonality of the idiom is what makes it work. If you walked around just making shit up all day you'd defeat the purpose of using figurative speech.
So it isn't a money issue for Fred, it sounds like he got in actual trouble. Maybe he tried to talk to some celebrities.

Woman Puts Menstrual Blood in Her Boss’s Coffee, Ruins His Mornings Forever (http://jezebel.com/5912574/woman-puts-menstrual-blood-in-her-bosss-coffee-ruins-his-mornings-forever)
If you thought putting shit in someone's food was the nastiest possible way to get revenge, think again. A woman named Jumiah in Singapore took things to a whole new level when she put some of her menstrual blood in her boss's coffee. Why don't we all take a minute to say "Ahhhhhuckuggthhhuuh" as we realize that, yes, in fact someone else did pour our coffee this morning...
As for why Jumiah, 24, chose to do this to her boss, it's not clear. She had worked for the man for about a year, and she really must not have been too fond of him. I don't even think we should start speculating about how she got the blood into the coffee. Let's hope it involved tupperware and not a direct transfer, I guess? Oh God. Oh God. Is there a a way to get Purell into your brain?
that's the reason you call it a pig skin...although, it isn't really pig skin either

I worked with this girl that had a Tori Amos tattoo and wanted to tell me all about it, even though there's only one reason anyone ever gets a Tori Amos tattoo. It went something like:
I have this tattoo.
Oh yeah, I saw that.
It's Tori Amos' autograph.
Yeah that's what I thought it was.
She's just so great.
I know her stuff, I dont mind it but it's not my thing.
Her songs are just so special for me.
Yeah, that's good.
We went through a lot of the same stuff.
Yeah I know all about her.
See, I was RAPED.
Now the second she pointed out her Tori tattoo I knew this is exactly where it was going to end, and I was just trying to deflect it the whole time. Incidentally this was working in a mall starbucks and I didn't know this girl at all.

I have to admit that I am a little jealous that people are more accepting of men watching cartoons targeted at little girls. When I was a kid, I was mocked for watching the "My Little Pony" cartoon. Admittedly, I watched it because it was a cartoon that was on at 8:30 in the morning and there were NO other cartoons on at that time of the morning. At 7, I would've watched anything that was animated on TV. I used to get pissed off when the beginning of "Lost in Space" or "Soul Train" came on because both looked deceptively like cartoons and would air right after the cartoon programming blocks ended.

Love the Looney Tunes!
I cannot get too excited about modern anime, but the late 70s to early 90s anime that filtered to the US is just a trip. It is amazing to me that a bunch of writers, animators, and artists watched "Streets of Fire," "Mad Max," and "Star Wars" and just shaped an entire artistic and storytelling aesthetic from them.
About 15 years ago, the Japanese discovered that there are more potential viewers in North America and the UK and create the same content over and over again.

Ron needs to realize that 1: When a movie has grossed as much money as Avengers so many people are seeing it that it's idiotic to try and push it into a small group of people that only see popcorn movies, so yes they've seen Chaplin too.
and 2: that the sci fi/action/comic book fans are also movie nerds and yes they've seen a lot of the movies on your bullshit, I'm a proto hipster list.
I don't get the bronie thing at all.

I don't completely understand it either. I do remember a lot of people really liking the "Powerpuff Girls" in the 90s. The fact that "My Little Pony" is an established girl toy line for ages 3 to 9 makes me hesitant to watch it.
i still like the powerpuff girls. i have a poster of them on my wall :o
I cannot get on the "The Avengers" hate bandwagon. I have never been much of a Marvel Super Heroes fan, but I am sure it will be a lot of fun. I have probably seen more popcorn movies in the past 6 years than I would've wanted to, but Japan rarely gets new independent movies right away. I did get to see Spiderman 3, three days before fans in the US.

I think this might be the ultimate 90s cartoon nerd fact. The intro to "Rugrats" was directed and animated by Peter Chung (Aeon Flux, Reign: The Conqueror, Animatrix, Phantom 2040, etc). He was set to be involved with the series but was pulled off of the project in favor of Arlene Klasky and Gabor Csupo.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R1NVdxGOW-Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It is a shame really. The intro has a fantastic look to it. The actual series was drawn really thick and animated stiffly. Klasky Csupo couldn't handle the task of coloring Waylon Smithers properly why were they trusted with Rugrats?
the mountain hicks had cable well before the coastal cities...it was a necessity in the mountains since antenna receptions sucked

I moved from the sticks to a slightly more populous part of the sticks in the late 80s. Got cable in 1989.
Chicago was really slow to get completely wired for cable because there were UHF stations attempting to run under a paid model for several years (Spectrum, ON-TV, SportsVision, etc) only to be thwarted by kits you could buy at Radio Shack that would pirate the encrypted signal.

PayTV modulators would let you get a crystal clear signal (well, as good as an over the air antenna can get you given the weather conditions). After about 11pm, they would show porno movies. I said something similar the other day, Fez wants to live in the South and belong to a church and be near his family etc, but he's also gay and everything he wants rejects his gayness.
