It's one of those projects that kill people or drives them mad

I listened to this book on CD and it was awesome! I hate that the author is dead and never got the acclaim he deserves.

I just downloaded the ebook on the recommendation of a friend. I'll have it finished about the time the movie comes out.

I tried to get into the book but it just never grabbed my interest.

There's a great story in the foreword of the edition I own from the professor at Tulane who got it published (it was published by the Louisiana State University college press before it caught on and got picked up by a major publisher) tells the story of Toole's mother, who found the manuscript soon after his suicide, but spent 11 years trying to find a publisher, finally badgering him into actually reading it. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Keithy, you should try listening to it. The guy that did the reading was terrific. And Knox, the forward was on the edition I listened to as well. A great story.

I haven't read many books recently but this one I did. I can totally see Zach Galifianakis playing the main role, as I feel like he's played similar characters.

I agree--I think he'll do a good job of it.
