Ron is right buy he's wrong. So yeah, we are taught to react to words and the words themselves have no objected value.

However, that's how language works and the offense is built into the ontology of the word. We need a standard so that we can communicate with people who speak the same language but come from a place far enough away to have developed its own tropes.


And I would argue that the words to have an objective quality in that swear words usually have harsher sounds which we innately react to in a certain way, and the more sanitized versions are always much softer sounding so you can use them without sounding aggressive.

I think these two examinations are totally valid and will offer more (or at least different) info on these issues, precisely BECAUSE these reports are being done by outsiders. I grew up about 12 miles from Young's Jersey Dairy, it's in Yellow Springs Ohio, not Canton. I was working today and really wanted to call and correct Ron, but then again, let him go to Canton looking for it, he'll be 3 hours away. Dave Chapelle lives in Yellow Springs, it's a stoner town full of hippies and head shops, but Youngs is out a country road on a farm, There have been more than a few Chapelle sightings there.
