So I was at a show in a basement, and it was so sweaty there were literally puddles on the floor. And there was a circle pit and I didn't even remember that circle pits existed. So people running really fast in circles on a wet, vinyl tile floor you can imagine what happened. I saw this one girl belly flop so hard I cant believe she didn't break her ribs, then she gets up with the wind all knocked out of her and tries to keep dancing but like she had been stepped on.

i went out and got some sun this weekend in the park at the pier. my shoulders are a bit sunburned. i even used spf 15 (like a little bitch). :dry:

it was the perfect 'hood summer day: the mr softee truck was blaring its siren song to the children, the smell of home cooked picnic feasts wafted through the air, children were splashing around in the ice cold sprinkers, and a huge speaker mounted on a bicycle hitch was blasting some classic 70s salsa :happy:

It's kindof the same thing as conspiracy theories. It's hard to imagine something so your mind needs this other justification to have it make sense. I think the problem with this argument is that the closer the problem is to you the more strong of an opinion you are going to have for it. In the case of foreigner combatants needing to be tortured, we really know very little about them. The xenophobic will be all for torture because they don't see foreign combatants as being the same as them. People who are a little more liberal tend to think that these foreign combatants should be detained and tried with the possibility of being returned to their nation when combat operations conclude.

In the case of Jerry Sandusky, you are talking about someone who is in your community raping kids. We know exactly who he is and what he allegedly did. It hits a stronger chord with Americans than random nobodies from desert nations in the middle east. Having said this, I also think that Sandusky should be punished within the boundaries of what the law is.

If it were my child where were a victim of Sandusky, I may take the law into my own hands and would accept the consequences of my crime. I don't believe that the US legal system should involve itself in C&E anymore than I think the that US military should be torturing prisoners of war.

Personal story. One of my high school history teachers was good pals with a homeless WW2 vet named Larry. Larry lived in a forest on the outskirts of the Chicago suburbs basically since he returned from Japan to his death in the late 90s. When he was fighting in Japan, the Japanese military captured him and tortured him. The torture involved them taping a water hose into his mouth and pumping filthy water into his mouth while leaping on his stomach over and over again for 4 months. The guy lived in the forest after being returned to the US because he didn't want to live inside any confined space and he never bathed because, you know.... being tortured with water can make a guy adverse toward bathing. Sweet guy. Sad story. After meeting this one guy, I cannot think of any act of torture without thinking about the consequences of what happened to Larry. It is easy to say, "Screw those Muslim lunatics" and torture POWs but, consequently it is also easy for our opposition to say, "Screw those infidels" and torture our guys.
