A friend of a friend spoke at the opening night of the DNC. She's a mom whose kid has a heart defect and needs a bunch of surgeries, and she was talking about the complete care act.

Also, on youtube I saw an anti obama commercial about a woman from Canada who would have died if she waited the length of time canadian healthcare wanted her to before seeing a specialist, so she came to America. The upshot of the commercial was Obama wants to make our healthcare canadian.

I went to visit my great aunt in the home once, and she kept telling me she knew that my great uncle was cheating on her, and that she was gonna cut his "thing" off. He had been dead for years. I felt guilty for being entertained by the story, but it was cool to see that side of her--not just the "great aunt" side, but the human side that worried about her cheating husband. I later found out from my grandma that my great uncle did cheat on her all the time. Such a colorful past!

I can't tell you how many times I put on cartoons for my kids when they were younger, or my neices and nephews now, then sat there and watched and laughed long after they lost interest.

Yeah, I'm bummed because the girls I take care of have moved from cartoons to those stupid teeny-bopper Disney shows. I hate those so much.

I grew up a big Looney Tunes cartoon watcher...I never did appreciate the later cartoons as much

we have a special needs relative living with us that watches all these Anime shows, but he also watches Care Bears...man has more diverse tastes than me

I put a lot of my old favorites on my Netflix list. I got a 1980's Strawberry Shortcake DVD from them the other day. It was total crap. I can't believe I ever loved it. Looney Tunes on the other hand, still rocks.

How's Rainbow Bright treating you?

I would be psyched if an Ikea moved in near me when I previously had not had one. Ikea is the tits, cheap decent looking furniture. Every fucking decent non Ikea couch costs like a grand.

I was never a big Rainbow Bright fan, but I'll bet it's just as awful as all the rest. As for IKEA, I'm going to get a bookshelf from there this weekend. For $139, it can't be beat. It's not beautiful, but it'll get my books off the floor.

I'll bet you were a Jem girl, though.

I'm moving and I'm buying a bedframe and atleast one couch. I'm going to get out for under a grand. It's mind boggling.

Jem is still truly outrageous. They showed old episodes on the HUB for a while. It was pretty crappy, but I still loved it.

I like the episode where the orphan girl took a pill and started hallucinating to the point that she thought she could fly then proceeded to step out of the window of the Starlight Orphanage.
