You could almost fill this thread with mentions of people doing better versions of Leonard Cohen songs than his original: Judy Collins' "Suzanne", Johnny Cash's "Bird on a Wire", Concrete Blond's "Everybody Knows", and multiple versions of "Hallelujah", especially Jeff Buckley's legendary version, and a really great cover by John Cale. And there are many more I could mention as well.

Cohen's a great songwriter (well, a great writer in general), but he can't sing worth a shit, and his later albums are marred by terrible production -- cheesy drum machines, keyboards that sound like cheap-ass Casios they got at Walmart, all smothered in overdone backing vocals.
