This is one of my favorite shows of the new season. Anyone watching? Created by Shawn Ryan, who helmed one of the all time greats - The Shield - along with the fantastic, but cancelled by stupid FOX, The Chicago Code.

The first episode was fast paced and action packed. Just excellent storytelling and decent enough characters. Last night was the third episode and it was very good too - including a brutal storyline with captured sailors on their island. But the mystery as to who is pulling the strings in Washington is just enough not to get in the way. So far, it's been a really balanced plot.

Plus, submarines battling warships is always cool. DIVE DIVE DIVE!

Poor sailors!

Saw a trailer at a movie over the summer and it just seemed silly.

Well, it's on ABC on demand. Check out the first episode.

There are a lot of reasons Last Resort is one of the few new series worth getting excited about this fall, but the chief one is that the pilot never lets you forget that you are in the hands of skillful actors and producers who know how to make an hour of television. They're doing a good job keeping the tension going on this show. This week's showdown between those who want to stay and go was really good - and the Secretary Of Defense (played by the excellent Jay Karnes from The Shield and SOA) telling that sailor to blow up the ship was a great scene.

I still don't know how this is going to play out in Washtington DC.

And I could not tell what the French scientist was taking soil samples of. Not sure if I missed it or her accent threw me off.
