22 point lead and you lose by 11. AWESOME. BROOKLYN RUSTED SHIT

Knicks off to a 3-0 start after beating miami by 20, philly by 16 and then philly by 22. I dont wanna get ahead of myself, because they have some old dudes. But they have ALOT of them. This team has a ton of dept. Everyone is playin like 15-30 min. They are sharing the ball and gettin good shot s and hopefully someone is ready to tonya harding Amare

Sixers Blog Highlights!

"I agree with Brandon, if I can’t find the Philly broadcast the Knicks broadcast team is the one I would prefer out of anyone in the league"

"melo
Who is going to guard this guy?"

"So what do y’all think—is Carmelo going to entirely annihilate Thad Young tonight, or is he only going to abuse him?"

"Knicks are continuing their seemingly outlandish 3pt shooting."

"Lesson from yesterday and today
Don’t make contact with Melo."

"Who the hell is this Priggione guy"

"Knicks are hitting so many everythings."

"brewer for 3? ur kidding me rigth?"

"since when did Ronnie Brewer become the best 3 point shooter in the leauge?"

"How the hell did the Sixers even manage to score 100 in the preseason?"

"Ugh. I'm trying to switch back and forth between the two games but maybe I should just stick with the birds at this point."

"HOW IS IT STILL THE THIRD QUARTER"

"Why am i even bothering to switch back to the sixers game anymore?"

Seriously, who gives a fuck about a 1-4 start in the NBA. As long as you get in the playoffs -- and you really have to suck to not -- you're fine.

The Lakers' overreaction to this start is going to hurt them far worse than their record.

the GM is Glen Grunwald. He did whatever dolan says. Even Woodson.

Woodsons agent was the dude who represented larry brown when he fucked the knicks so dolan told him to get new agents and he fired that dude and got a new one

It's being reported that Mike D'Antoni has signed a four year deal to coach the Lakers. If true, it's hilarious because I can't imagine it not being an unmitigated disaster. D'Antoni has no concept of how to use a true center in his system and Kobe doesn't have the legs to run the court in his offense. I anxiously await a first round playoff sweep of the Lakers and the following meltdown in LA.

Throughout the whole contest he was outspoken about how awful it was. Then during the wrap up he went rapid fire with his derision saying how the competition should be cancelled if this is the product the league is going to present and the only highlights were for the participants because the majority of them were unrecognizable to the public other than this event. Someone said "Chuck, the dunk contest is cyclical" and he responded "yeah, well I'm sick of it". He started on another rant and either his mic was cut or someone in his headphones told him to drop it immediately because he cut off mid sentence and just sat silently for the rest of the broadcast.

i dont think it was NBA or stern. I think it was TNT and his bosses because TNT paid alot of money to carry all star weekend and they dont want people tuning out in the future.

the thing is, if anyone watched it at a bar or something, it was TERRIBLE. But if you watched it with the sound on, listening to the guys announcing it, etc. It was AWESOME. Part of the reason Inside the NBA is such a good show is the leeway they are given to say what they want. And even with Barkley, they let him go for a long time before they finally told him to knock it off.

As long as those guys are doing the announcing, i will tune in no matter how lame the contests are. In fact, the lamer, the better. They spent a good 2 hours last night just ripping on Kevin Hart for being so small. one of the dudes dunked jumpin over a kid and barkley was like it woulda been slightly impressive if they had kevin hart stand on the kids shoulders so it was 5 feet tall total.

They were pretty shitty. A couple stood out, and yeah, the misses made it so much worse. But it was fun to watch in a bar. I feel like I would have been bored out of my mind if I watched it alone at home.

But seriously, knock it off with the 50s. Only amazing dunks should get 50s, not every dunk.

I have two theories and I don't know what the rule book actually says

1 I believe it's in the rule book where it says any pass thrown with no eligible receiver nearby is intl grounding except when qb does it from right under center to stop clock
or

2 the running back is considered close enough for it not to be grounding

Looked it up, said intentional grounding is specifically to avoid a sack. My argument should be its a fumble.

Step to third and throw to first pickoff move should be a balk. You're intentionally trying to deceive the runner.

yea in the NBA that move isnt illegal as long as its only 1 dribble. Otherwise I believe it would officially be called as a palming or carry or traveling. Something. But you are allowed to do the move you are talking about.

also, spiking the ball isnt a fumble because it goes forward. Even if you are pitchin to the RB, if you pitch it forward its incomplete. And besides, why would you not want teams to clock the ball? You want the ends of games to suck balls cause the clock always runs out?

I have seen this move tried maybe 10K times in my life. I have seen it work twice. Once by Greg Maddox like 20 years ago, and once last year against Ichiro, ironically. I think thats a big part of why they banned it. Not really cause you are deceiving anything, they got rid of that cause they are sick of wasting time on something that works 0.00000001% of the times its tried.

besides. the official rule for a balk is so stupid and long, they were probably hesitant to add any more shit to it:

A pitcher is restricted to a certain set of motions and one of two basic pitching positions before and during a pitch; if these regulations are violated with one or more runners on base, an umpire may call a balk.

With a runner on base and the pitcher on or astride (with one leg on each side of) the rubber, it is a balk[2] when the pitcher:

switches his pitching position from the windup to the set (or vice versa) without properly disengaging the rubber;
while on the rubber, makes a motion associated with his pitch and does not complete the delivery;
when pitching from the set position, fails to make a complete stop with his hands together before beginning to pitch;
throws from the mound to a base without stepping toward (gaining distance in the direction of) that base;
throws or feints a throw from the rubber to an unoccupied base, unless a play is imminent;
steps or feints from the rubber to first or third base without completing the throw (doing so to second base is legal);
delivers a quick return, a pitch thrown right after receiving the ball back, with intent to catch the batter off-guard;
drops the ball while on the rubber, even if by accident, if the ball does not subsequently cross a foul line;
while intentionally walking a batter, releases a pitch while the catcher is out of his box with one or both feet
unnecessarily delays the game
pitches while facing away from the batter;
after bringing his hands together on the rubber, separates them except in making a pitch or a throw;
stands on or astride the rubber without the ball, or mimics a pitch without the ball; or
throws to first when the first baseman, because of his distance from the base, is unable to make a play on the runner there.

The pitcher's acts of spitting on the ball, defacing or altering the ball, rubbing the ball on the clothing or body, or applying a foreign substance to the ball are not balks, however it will result in the pitcher's ejection from the game if caught.

who else was bidding for injury prone Bargnani and his bad contract? If you want to risk by taking on the salary I say why not, it’s only for two years and cap wise they are very limited with what they can do in that two year window, but why, why, why would you give up a one? ive stopped worrying about what the knicks do with draft picks anymore. We gave up one in 2011 for a deal from 2003 (the marbury deal).
And he had some injuries sure, but I think alot more of it was him checking out in toronto and not really giving a fuck, especially after they threw away a year or 2 after bosh left. I think a fresh start could help him. But mainly, we got a 27 year old who fills a need when he is healthy, and i think his health wont be a huge issue going forward, for 2 guys who were taking up space and a future 1 that we probably woulda used to draft some european bum anyway.

I can understand people not thinking this is some magic deal. I dont either, but its basically a break even deal with a chance to be pretty good. People are killing it as if the Knicks just set themselves back 2 years or something. The only way its bad is if that pick ends up being top 5 or something. And if thats the case, the Knicks wouldnt have had it anyway cause they woulda been so bad they woulda traded it for a name that woulda kept selling tickets. Thats what they do.

edit: oh and people also seem to be forgetting this isnt a same money years deal. Novak has 3 years left on his deal, camby and andrea have 2. So the knicks also cleared another like 4.5 million from the year all the deals we have are up, on top of whatever else is coming off.

the savings on state income tax come no where near 30 million. If he had taken the lakers offer, he would have paid roughly 11 mill in state tax over life of the deal after you factor out what his agent will get and other shit.

Also, the no state tax thing makes me laugh. yea I guess it helps for half your money, but when you are an athlete you have to pay at least some tax to every single state you play in based on the number of times you played there

the way it breaks down is buy how much money you physically earned in the state. So say you play in NY. They get to take state tax on all your money, since you most likely live in that state. If not, its whatever state you live in. In NBA you are paid by game basically over 82 games. (or 162, or 16, whatever sport, the taxing works out the same way) So then lets say you also play 4 games in the state of california. Cali gets to tax you for 4 games worth of your pay. And so on and so on. The rates are slightly lower than a residents state income tax would be cause you dont live in the state. Whatever state you live in you pay the standard rate that anyone else would in that bracket.

And yes, that means anytime you play in a state with no income tax, you dont have to pay extra tax. So there is still a big draw to playing in a state without income tax, but its not like people act. Also, because of the paying to so many states, and the earning so much money out of state, athletes usually get a larger % back from each state than a normal worker would. It must be awesome to get a few hundred thousand dollar tax return

jeter had a huge unpaid tax bill cause he didnt give the state a cent. Your main place of residence takes the most (if they tax you), but every place you work also takes a bit. in jeters case, because he made most of his money in NY, he had to pay a higher rate than he thought, so he ended up having to pay more later on.

essentially think of it like this. Lets say you live in NJ and work in NY. You pay tax to NJ in full amount, and then you pay a lower level to NY since you dont actually live there. But you still have to pay to both.

For athletes it works the same, except they end up having to pay little bit to each state they play in. Because if each state got a piece of everything, there would be no money left, so the state only gets a piece of what was played in that state.

Thats why it didnt matter jeter lived in florida.
