i had a friend who died friday night from an o.d. after getting out of rehab earlier this month and even though he and i lost touch for a few years but we still saw each other in passing. i just feel like shit cause i feel if i would have tried to harder to stay in touch he might be alive right now, he started getting messed up when his chick left him to go to cali and it only got worse after he found out she was pregnant i just wish i could have been there for him. our circle of friends is meeting up to memorialize him later this month this just sucks

A kid I went to high school with died a few years ago of an overdose. I knew that he was a big fan of pot but didn't know he liked heroin more. He was an awesome guy and since we weren't close it didn't hit me as hard as others, but it still sucked.

That's awful. I'm sorry. But don't beat yourself up, you'll only make yourself crazy by thinking of all the "what ifs." Take comfort in your friends and all the good memories of him. Sending you comforting thoughts.

thanks guys i'm pretty much over the sad part now i'm just pissed at the girl who broke him that set him on this path in the first place, i just found out she is happy,thriving and just gave birth to a healthy baby the day after my buddy died. god i wish unpleasantness on her and the guy she ran to be with, i mean she is smiling in pictures when she has to know he is dead they still have the same friends for god sake i'm rambling now

you just can't go that way despite all the reasons in the world or the hate will consume too much of you and your memories

yet ultimately, and this may sound harsh, your friend chose his path no matter how tough it got. i'm not saying she was right, but she didn't kill your buddy as relationships break apart every day and you have to live on...some just can't and it's sad.

glad to hear you're over the sad part, now it's time to get over this and move on to the remembering good shit part as you seem to be headed toward. the guy clearly had some demons, they are at rest now so remember all the good and be there for those still here

I understand your sadness in the situation, but I'm not sure if it's right to blame his ex for this situation. Is it possible that the girl tried to help him with his problems, and she pushed him away, and after she left the problem got worse?
