I have a friend (Really I do). She (You see I am a guy its not me) wants to go from Brooklyn to Arizona. Here is the problem, she has 6 damn cats. She wants someone to ride and RV to Arizona and she will pay. If you are interested we will discuss price. If you have any other ideas on how to make this trip feel free to give advice.

I would love to do that! I wish I fit any of the qualifications. I don't have an RV, I'm already as far West as you can go, and I'm allergic to cats. As a matter of fact, someday when I move back East from California, I want to take as long as possible and see as many things as I can along the way. I hope she finds someone, that sounds like a hoot and a half!

Can you post a picture of "your friend" before I make my decision ?

No idea how to post pics but she is cute but not looking to date her driver and I think you are just joking in any case..... As for you Skeet she is willing to pay a decent amount of money including gas so maybe that will entice you.

I wasn't exactly thinking of "dating" either.

And yes I am kidding Captain Killjoy.

Why don't you rent an RV one-way? There's tons of RV parks in Arizona, it's not like you're going to a uncommon area for outbound rentals. Plus people are snowbirding out there.

Really wish I could man. Did a road trip from Philly to Savannah in an RV before. One of the funnest trips ever.

Is this a vacation or is she running from the local animal control agency for cat hoarding?

It would be cheaper to fly with her cats than rent an RV and a driver. an RV is not totally self-sustaining, you'll need to stop, do all that stuff.

Quick numbers:

For her to fly from here to Arizona: $200 (one-way, direct, either from EWR or JFK, after the holidays). That's not included charges for the pets and extra baggage, but we'll get to that.

Average MPG on RV: 12.

Cost of gas: 3.41

Brooklyn, NY to Phoenix, Arizona: 2,500 miles.

2,500 / 12 MPH = 208.33

208.33 x 3.41 = $710

Already, it's much cheaper to fly.

If she doesn't want to fly, then she's shit out of luck. Her best bet is to look on Craigslist but her chance of someone who's willing to drive her out there AND has an RV is about nil.

I looked at planes and Big Blue has the best deal but there is 2 problems. Big Blue which is the best allows 4 cats per person. Second and most importantly they need a clean bill of health from the Vet which means she would have to take all of them to The Vet which would be insanely expensive. She is screwed in any case. She just lost her job so no money even if she can find anything affordable.

Isn't there a thing where you drive rental cars from one place to another for the rental car companies? I can't remember what it's called, but I looked into it a few years ago as a fun way to drive across country. I didn't end up doing it because I couldn't get enough time off of work. Although they may have a pet rule. I wish there was a way to help her!
