There is a part of me that would love to just boycott this wacky Scientologist's movies on principle alone... but he does make good movies. The last two Mission Impossible movies were awesome, and this one looks right in my wheelhouse.

I'm always amazed when I hear that somebody is distracted by Tom Cruises' religious beliefs. It just seems so..... specific.

It's Scientology in general that bothers me... it's a cult. And supporting his movies is supporting that cult, because he gives money to the cult.

But you are right - there may be a large portion of the population might have a problem with it, they also can turn that off for two hours and watch one of his movies.

AS a lapsed Catholic, which religion ISN'T a cult?

Let's see; Scientology believes aliens came here trillions of years ago & blew up souls with atomic bombs in volcanos , and we must purge those solus through electrical meters.

Catholicism says 2000 years ago they nailed a guy to a tree, whereas he became the first zombie (well, second, counting Lazarus) and to go to heaven , you should support the church's political views, and oh, pass the collection plate

The Mormons believe that same zombie came to America & made peace with our Native Americans . And, oh yeah, black people were "unclean" until the 70s .And when you die you go to your own planet & get a bunch of wives .

Funny that both home-grown American religions have science fiction in them

We know about all the Muslims problems(though maybe its the fundamentalists) .

Maybe Buddhism isn't a cult, but I've met some snooty Buddhists who think their shit doesn't stink either
