So tradition dictates that today's opener be that Pogues song that I dont like. However, the day dictates a hack end of the world play list. So lets guess: End of the world as we know it, The End, The Final Countdown, what else?
I went with a weird 20 minute remix of the mekons song Where Were You cus why not.

I find the youtube suggestion logic so weird. Like, it will suggest things that fit into your profile even if it's completely unrelated to what you're searching for right then. So if I'm listening to Boredoms which is electronic music it's going to still suggest King Tuff to me, which is like stoner garage rock. And even worse is it will try and show me stuff that isn't music, like after King Tuff is done it's going to tell me I should listen to David Cross talk about Rick Santorum. Even if I wanted to know what David Cross had to say about that I really wouldn't want to interrupt my music listening to do so. I think it's all a little to pandering and clever.

I dont put a lot into the violent movie/video game thing. However, if you're a person who subscribes to our culture as a whole creating an environment that breeds the occasional spree killer you cant discount our art and media as either contributing to or atleast perpetuating that culture. Ron has been very vocal that our culture is the problem, therefore our movies are part of the problem. If our culture wasn't this then there would be no market for or reverance to violent homages to bloody 70s westerns.

Hey, I just did something nice. I order a bunch of stuff from this bike company because if you ordered x amount of junk from them you get enetered into a raffle to win a custom bike frame. I needed enough stuff to qualify so I went for it.
Well it all came this week and I was so damn impressed by how it was packed I wrote the owner of the company a little note about how his packing department is literally the best I've ever seen, and how nice it is to know that someone cares that much about packing my order when normally it might seem like a little job you dont give much thought. I got a nice note back from the owner about how nice it is that people appreciate little things like that, and that because of my note he's giving his two person packing department an extra $100 each above whatever other christmas bonus they were getting because I had such nice things to say about them.
I forgot about "Santa's Got A Secret".

Nothing major. They played a version that apparently had someone chatting (backselling?) at the end of. It got cut off after a few words. Either they played the wrong version or didn't cut out in time.

In the US media, I think movies and violent video games are part of the problem, but the broadcast news (with its constant need to discuss the grizzly details of true crime) and advertising (especially Christmas shopping commercials where the corporations encourage dangerous shopping strategies on black Friday) are infinitely worse.

For me its pure disappointment now, listening to the joy and hope and happiness that Fez had when he came out compared to now.
Fez is just as lonely, bitter , selfish as ever this holiday season.
Its very disappointing as a listener.
Ron Bennington is the greatest radio personality in the history of broadcasting....and he partner says what 12 words a day.
I can imagine Ron's ideas on friends, loyalty, teasing the tard, and the bottom line is Ron does not care when he resigns his contact with Fez. Fez should not be in radio period. Ron allows this as charity. This Charity comes at a cost as the cost is bad radio... I wish Fez nothing but happines, but I know in my heart, Fez will never ever change. And listening to him is getting old and depressing, if not already is.

I found this show to be great radio, and I did have some hope that the old Fez would return, my disappointment lies not in what Fez didn't become, but what he became. He's become the gay Al Sharpton, alienating friends and calling anybody who crosses him a homophobe.

I don't think anyone acted like it was bad radio on any level. Fez DID act like the secret was the only thing holding him back. For a short time it seemed this was accurate. :(
But that's also unfair to Fez. To act like any one thing is holding a mentally sick person back is ridiculous.
An addict takes it one day at a time and is never truly safe. The same goes for any one who has some sort of mental disease.
I don't think anyone acted like it was bad radio on any level. Fez DID act like the secret was the only thing holding him back. For a short time it seemed this was accurate. :(
Exactly. This is taken from Fez's interview after he came out:
Coming to this realization was devastating. After all those years of denying it, it was true. Fez Whatley was no longer a character that I played on the air. He was me. And now it wasn’t funny anymore. I was now everything that I had joked about. I got depressed. I became severley anxious and couldn’t perform any longer. I’ve had huge bouts of stage fright, panic and locking up on the air. And most of all, I couldn’t make myself be Fez Whatley anymore. The whole dynamic changed for me. I was terrified about being really gay.
So if "The Secret" was the cause of him locking up, why after coming out is he continuing to lock up? There must be something more.
PerryWinkle

The reason he continues to lock up is because he doesnt fit on the show anymore. Back when he was the "clown" on the show, he fit with the goofie show Ron did. Now that Ron is doing a more "mature" show, which includes movies and music that Fez doesnt watch or listen to, Fez just doesnt have a clue how to fit in the show anymore. The excuse of locking up and the "secret" for years, is just avoiding the real problem that Fez just doesnt fit with Ron anymore when it comes to the show.

I guess this has something to do with it, but he made the statement over the summer that he didn't want to use any humor that offended anyone, period. That runs a little deaper than not fitting in, that's a philosophy that would make anyone completely unfunny.
