I'm unable to listen live, but... there's one thing I hate about R&F music talk, and that's that they focus solely on old, classic, rock material.
Is it safe to say that Ron and Earl are discussing vintage stuff from their youth? I grow tired of that.

I work with guys like Ron here at my office. If you asked them (or Ron, or Earl, etc etc) to name 25 great albums from the last 25 years, they could not do it. It really limits every conversation about music if you (they) focus solely on the stuff that moved you when you were young. I understand the attachment to the soundtrack of your youth, but... there's so much more out there.

Although... I meant to mention in my other post that every once in a while Ron will pretend to like Amy Whinehouse or whatever. That kinda sorta counts, I guess but... she was doing shtick. Same goes for, say, Brian Setzer or whatever.
That's right on the edge of not REALLY being current music.
To each his own though. I'm not coming from a place of judgement here. I'm just saying that there's a lot of good music being made all the time, and people are really missing out if they don't even bother to search for it.

Not not cutting edge, it just isnt my taste. I think he's probably going to bring up the Grizzly Bear album, Celebration Rock by Japandroids, Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. None of it is bad, it's just not my thing.

As for mainstream I'll bet you hear about Jack White and The Black Keys.
